Judging by the many threads about lack of close coupling and how to fix it, like a lot of surveys you've got to wonder who they asked. Unless your never going to run your F's coupled to another F unit I would have thought close coupling would be No.1 priority. I think the whole appearance of a matched set of F's is detracted from by having 10+ foot gaps between units and gives them a tinplate or toyish look, but maybe thats just me.

BTW I do have several IM F7's on order so I'm not knocking them on quality, but I am going to also have to order some replacement couplers and put in some time and effort fixing them before I use them.

I just finished using the Unimates on a NYC F3 ABA and an E-L F7 ABBA lashup. Using the MT coupler springs works super (put the spring on the mounting screw and then put the mounting screw through the Unimate. This holds the spring in place and reduces aggravation considerably :) I cut off the Unimates right behind the first hole (from the coupler) and then had to ream out the first hole with a #56 drill bit. Be sure not to overtighted the screw (it lifts the coupler pocket). Just snug it up and the spring takes care of the slack.

The close coupling is a huge improvement in the looks category. Thanks for the great tips guys!
