Anyone here still using CMRI on your railroad?

I use some C/MRI nodes made out of Arduinos.

I dont know much about it, but a co-worker of mine handed me a giant box this weekend of all sorts of boards he was building with Bruce Chubb, and one of his books signed. lol

Is it worth tinkering with, or should i toss it up for folks to pic out stuff they may need as spares?

I would say it would be worth holding on to for now. It might be worth finding out what’s all in the box, and learning about how it works. It may be older technology, but I bet it works great. I’m pretty sure you can connect it to jmri if it includes sensors or lights. I use cmri nodes built on Arduinos, but I still had to buy current sensors for block detection. They’re about 12-13 bucks each, so you might be saving quite a bit of money if you can use them.

Post some pictures of what you have in the box and I can tell you what you have :) I have a pile of CMRI bits that I am looking to unload as well if you are interested in them...

I use it on my layout, and am very happy with it. It is still being deployed on new layouts.
It works fine with JMRI, or you can use it with one of the BASIC programming variants.
Boards are available prebuilt, or you can build your own.

looks like quite the collection for a DC based setup. Those cards with the relays on them are for common rail block cab selection. Also an interesting compact case for the USIC (main processor) and a handful of IO cards. You also have a pile of DC block detectors (the ones with five pin connectors), these can be modified to work for DCC but are best suited for DC with common rail.
