I live right on the BNSF. In fact they run through my back yard. I am seeing alot of CSX locos around here. Renumbers and paints so far I have seen anything ranging from SD40-2 to C44-8W's and AC4400CW's. I have also seen 1 AC6000CW and a SD70MAC. I heard there used for connecting coal trains. Also keep yours eyes peeled on the east coast for a SD80MAC painted in CSX colors. I need the number becuase I want to model one! ------------------ Keep on railroad'n

Right on, the only one to date, I believe. CSX's SD80s are in the 800-812 range. They're probably out west repaying a lot of HP hours from this past fall/winter/spring. There were a lot of Armour Yellow and Pumpkin painted locos on the east coast then, and those 6000s repay the HP fast. ------------------ Corey Lynch VP - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W
WOW! That looks great! What a good paint scheme, especially for big locomotives ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
Hey Chessie, Thanks a million I needed that! That to is my first SD80MAC in CSX colors. Since CSX is running a heavy load of loco's though here I want one to use as pool power. I am truly surprised that they did not use the yellow CSX trimmed blue like the ones on the AC6000CW's.
Agreed with you there, Jack. I really think the 6000s look sharp with the yellow CSX on the side. It would have been cool to see the 80MACs with the same style. ------------------ Corey Lynch VP - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W
Man, those things are BRUTS! I've seen a few of the UP 90's around here and they are HUGE, but that 80 looks even BIGGER than the 90's I've seen. I'll never forget seeing a 90 running light out of McLean, IL. DRAGGING what seemed to be a "Little" loco behind it. Much too my suprise, it was a CW40-8! ------------------ BNSF RAILFAN-TO-THE-MAX! I'm not sure which unit is longer the SD90 or the AC60 but they are monster locomotives. I'll often see em teamed up with AC4400s in UP(or SP/CNW) paint and they just dwarf those other units...
