March MR Product Review It appears MR has released it's review of the CSX SD40 for the March issue. Check it out! Micro-Trains' Z scale EMD SD40-2 diesel locomotive By Dana Kawala, associate editor Read this review from Model Railroader magazine This SD40-2 from Micro-Trains Line Co. has an impressive amount of accurate detail, especially considering that it's a 1:220-proportion model. This diminutive diesel also has one of the quietest, smoothest running mechanisms of any locomotive that I've encountered in any scale. Added a teaser quote from the website. You need to be a subscriber to get the rest, or wait till it appears in print.
This is the latest addition to my CSX collection. A AZL PS2. I didn't like the over size chutes, so I cut it down to size. I also change the truck to MTL's with FVM wheels.
Ed, great looking engine. We dont see too many stealth engines in z. Also, is this a new diorama? I dont recognise it, but I like all the details and looks realistic.
Thanks for the comments John. Let's call the diorama a work in progress. I still have lots to be done on it.
Nice shot Alex. Sometime ago I installed a wash unit on the layout. On the second lap the CSX unit are mandated to run through. At night the are stored behind barbed wire with guard dogs. :tb-biggrin:
John do you have any pic's of that flat car in the back ground? Did you make or buy that load it look's sweet!!
Mike, the loads were made by Bill Mock. He drill he pipes so that they are hollow, and tie them with fly fishing wires. This is a better picture of the load in a different ca.
Look whats coming out next month from MTL. http://www.trainweb.org/csxphotos/photos/GP35/4346CSX-b.jpg
