Simply 'Grande! A couple sideboom outfits got stationed in Bond at some point. Not the drop deck flats.

This was in Bond in around 2008:

Thanks for the images for sure Hemi. I am pretty sure the SB6 with the drop deck car was an individual set. I dont know why, but suspect it may have been account the low clearance tunnel between GJ and Delta (yep there is a substantial tunnel there), but that is pure speculation on my part.

The OMI (Overland Models) D&RGW wreck dozer is great when you can find one. But still not absolutely correct for my particular build. The only thing that I was willing to change was the exhaust stack. As delivered there was the straight stack, that vented towards the left side.

I cut that off, and built my own replacement out of brass and styrene. Here are a few images. The drop deck flat, was it own custom build. It is a
vintage lead castings car that only came with 2 side sills and 2 end sills. all the rest is wood and Styrene, scratch built. I had a blast building this.
Lets have fun out there when you can.

here is my modification of the exhaust system. Pained me to do this, but I believe it made a better model for the SB6.

Here it is applied and a bit of weathering.

I’ll be watching for a video on it soon Tom! Great work as usual!!!

BTW, I’m looking at a trip out west in September to Moab for a 4X4 thing my son wants to go to. The fastest way is thru GJ. I might make that visit a reality!

    Take care buddy!

The weathering on the crawler is solid. I haven’t done any weathering just because I am afraid I will mess something up and ruin the model. So far your train is looking pretty good. What manufacturer is the depressed center flatcar? It looks like an interesting model.

Thanks guys for all the nice comments I really appreciate them. This D&RGW 40' box was assigned to the 028 wreck train too. It is just and old Athearn car that I put better steps under and soldered together a couple special steps for under the sliding doors, added a couple hand rails on the sides of the door openings too.
Just a basic car. I may get an IM one some day and redo this car. But this will do for now.

A little update here to the work train. Now, this may look like a simple build but it ended everything but simple. Couldn't tell what this (track) panel car started out as, its anyone's guess, but now its a panel car, soon to be the X 3317. It started as a MDC 60' flat that the stake pockets and sides were sanded, also cut some from both ends. Then dove deep into the parts drawer for an old 40 boxcar cut 6" ft off the B end of it, then cut 2 1/2' of the height, then cut 2 1/2 openings on both sides, put the racks inside, made the flat wall side out of .040 sheet and glued to the B end of the flat. Then .010 x .250 strips were glued to the side sills, with a couple .010 x .100 extensions added down by that tool shed, those horizontal long box looking things on the side sills are for chain and boomer storage when unloading the panels, made them from styrene, made the stake pockets and all the other ribs and so forth on the side sills, end sills. Made the hand rails and grabs, boy what a pain to drill in the end of that .040 sheet for the vertical grab irons there. Bent the cut bars too. Talk about a Frankenstein car. Should be pretty easy to decal just a few decals on each side. I have to shorten this thing whenever practical, so only one panel car, naturally I decided to build this one instead of the basic flat car. Man, I aint right in the head.
Here is my image from 1994 in Grand Junction, note the troop MW cars in the background.

And my attempt in a couple stages.
    20180513_124936.jpg

Now some Scalecoat II silver paint.

Now let it dry for a bit a gloss coat and some decals, anyway a little more progress.
    Thanks for stopping by :)
