Yo yo, there is a forum for DCC questions. But anywho, DCC turns each engine into a unique addressable unit. Therefore, you can control multiple engines within the same block.

Ya ya ya, this si for the DCC forum, and I am sure after this is done-it will be transfered, but its not moved yet-so I will reply here [IMG]

DCC is like radio control for planes. You need no blocks-eliminating the spacing before the trains. This ofetn comes in handy when switching, or in a diesel shop scene. You can control the light functions (Strobe type thing, MARS, standard, jus plan OFF, and more!!). You can also add things like ditch lghts, or sound. Sound, however, is alot harder to have in N scale-unless u are really good with small stuff (ruling me out). U can run multiple trains with one throttle if use Digitrax, but I can't really comment on other systems other than MRC. Something that u have to except, but really sucks is decoder instalation and pragramming. SNOOZ time! . However, if u don't fall asleep when u are prgaramming u can change the starting voltage, and the peak voltgae. Or, in simpler terms u can change the speed of an engine. This is nice if u are a person like me and wanna run something like Kato SD45 and a Atlas SD60M together, as they are totally different units.

I am sure there is more, but that covers the basics.

    Happy Railroading!!

Ya, I wanted to get into DCC, but it took 1.5 years of saving for me to get the DCC Digitrax system I have now. I went to the shop with enough money saved there (I help out for less than minuman wage, payed in product, but get 25% off) to get the Genesis, so I was happy, and then, I got happier when........................................................................................Dun Dun Dun.............................................. He handed me a box that said "Digitrax Chief". I was very very very happy. It was almost the happiest day of my model railroading life [IMG]

One of the nice things is, that if u do go with DCC, and more specifically Digitrax get the one of the 2 higher systems, as the differnec over the Genesis is very clear. I like the routing on the Chief, but have yet to use it on my small current layout. Also, there is a big differnece in throttle, I hate the U2!

    Happy Railroading!!

    Here's a thought,
read all the posts in this forum as well as on the N and HO forums that have to do with DCC you'll get a good background. Also I think Walthers sells a book on learning about DCC, worthwhile!
