Hi guys. I am wondering if anyone know of any good resources for CNW prototype drawings of both Steam and Diesel locomotives? I have the two "cyclopedia" books from Model Railroader, but I am always looking for other resources.
Thanks I actually did find a book of Steam diagrams! Still looking for the diesels though, specifically E9BA, HEP Equipped GP9, Hammerhead RSC-5, EMD Repowered BLW AS16, EMD Repowered DRS-6-4-15 and DRS-6-6-15, and EMD Repowered BLW S12, VO1000, and VO660
The Second Diesel Spotter's Guide has a section in the back dedicated to repowered locomotives, though I don't recall many of the photos being of CNW locomotives. When EMD did the repowering jobs, they favored replacing the hoods with their own. Many railroads, however, did repower equipment with EMD prime movers in the company shops, and these came out looking very different from the factory conversions. There is a list that documents as many of these conversions as they could find information on. http://www.bookfeeder.com/pdfbook/second-diesel-spotters-including-industrial.pdf
Boxcab diesel: http://cnwhs.org/ageir/cnwageir2.html 2-8-0 and 2-8-2, but at a price north of $50 Each: http://www.livesteamlocomotives.com/id35.html Chicago & North Western Power by Patrick Dorin (c. 1972) has a bunch of drawings within its pages, but they're side elevations only. It's still a fairly nice book though and has a great many photographs.
