My good buddy called. A neighbor gal stopped by while he was doing yard work this morning, said he might be interested in something in the back of her truck.
Two boxes of stuff her husband wanted taken to the dump.

Lionel 40W transformer. Lionel deck girder bridge. MARX 666 less tender and trailing truck. Full (maybe two) elevated trestle sets.
Over 80 pieces of 027....027 and what, 054? Curved and straight. RCS section. Lockons.

Two 022 switches (keeping those). Box of cars....some Scout type with PT trucks applied...good caboose...LV two bay I'm keeping for my string......and.....these two items.
40+ years they've been in boxes, not run.....no oil, no nothing, both ran on his railroad, reverse units worked, headlamp worked...the 2055 has the pickup wires broken off the rollers...held the wire to the centre rail, whistle works.
I've always wanted a 520..have parts of them, never could afford one. I now have one.
    Amazing.
I have straightened the 520 coupler....need to DSCN0139.JPG DSCN0137.JPG DSCN0138.JPG find the top half of the pantograph...or remove it and add stacks.......repaint....BA&P? Works with NP!
Cleaned and lubed the 520 today....runs superbly!

Wow. Great save! It makes me dizzy, thinking of how much stuff like this has been lost to dumps.

OMG! Sometimes I would love to be a screener at a dump, but then again I probably wouldn’t be able to get through the door to my house.

The 2055 WITH marker light jewels is a real score. Playing with them usually knocks out the markers. I have one with maybe slightly different number, but I can tell you those are really special engines. Does the tender have the whistle too? (Oh you said it tested good never mind. ) Awesome score.

DO you already do tinplate? Or is this a new bad habit?

Holy cow! What an amazing turn of events. #1, that he'd just throw all that out and #2, you got to intercept those things before he did.
