    Jerry,
Your super detailing brings my so-so units to life. Now my stuff & Scott's stuff can be parked next to one another with a true "realistic" look. His layout is going to be magnificent. He's spent over 50 hours coming up with this plan.

    Scott,
The repair bin is empty. Get here while the getting is good. I'm here 'til 2. What's #3067? Red Baron? CNJ? I remember giving you back the CNJ RDC's. I don't know anything about a red, superdetailed beautiful SD-40.:tb-wink:

    Mike:
Yeah, right. You know the 3067. I am glad I got the U34 back.

I started working on my Intermountain F7's again in response to Jerry's engines. Nothing like the look of an EMD E or F. I will post some pics when I get them done.

Scott, I'd be interested in seeing your track plan. I have been playing with that exact idea for a while now, and have come up with several variations. I'd like to see how you approach the idea. Mine are only rough sketches. I think I can do Hyde-Park why to Nay-Aug in 26 ft. I was only going to do to Pocono Summit with High and Low staging.
I couldn't settle on an exact time so I came up with, what I think is a unique operating plan.
The "day" starts early in the Transition era with the mourning passengers and coal drags steam powered. As the day progresses, the period progresses and equipment morphs time periods, merger, paint schemes, etc. This way I can have my cake (DL&W steam) with the icing (first gen Hoods and Cabs) and eat it too.(SD45, 45-2s etc):tb-wink:
BTW when you set up your ops, I put dibs in on the Pushers up the west slope.

    Awesome!!

    Wow,
Mike those units look like brass models. I haven't been active in trains for a while do to my 1 1/2 year old son. We have been playing with Thomas the Trains. It was great to see all "you" EL modelers. Keep up the great work!

Greg, I started another thread on this topic. I grabbed a few shots of the plan from AutoCAD. It is easier to read on paper but that gives you an idea of what I am doing.

Jerry, I just finished weathering one of the F7's with oils and will do a little airbrushing today sometime. I hope to have it completed tonight. If I do, pics will start popping up.

I go and grab an F-7 to get an idea of what would be needed to super detail it...then it hits me...there's no way! N scale is tiny! Gives a whole new appreciation
of great work, and makes me miss HO.

OK. you got me to do something finally. This an an Intermountain F7 that I detailed and weathered. It has all the usual details, grab irons, cut levers, brake hose, cab sunshades, interior cab sunshades, wipers, firecracker antenna, Leslie A200 horns, Nose MU receptacle and exhaust diverters. I also opened up the nose door, a practice common amongst EL employees in summer months. I also removed the etched grilles and painted underneath them to add more depth. The fuel tank took all kinds of work to get it to look like that. From the factory they come with side skirts on the body and that covers up most of the top end of the tank. I also added Z-Scale couplers and modified the mounting pads for close coupling. Thanks goes out to Craig at BLMA for making almost all of the etched detail parts I added. I weathered the engine to look like most EL F7's during the early 70's.

    WOW,
That does look fantastic !!!!!!!!!!
Now you'll have to do a "B" unit & make it look just as abused as the "A" unit. Or do another "A" unit & use them in pusher service.:tb-wink:

When they came out, I picked out an ABBA set from the batch that Rich got at Kenvil. I have a few more to do. Fortunately, the B's are nowhere as difficult as the A's. Wait until I get this SD45 done that I am working on now.
