You can run that geep on my railroad anytime. That's just beautiful work Paul.

BTW, how did you manage to remove the cab windows in order to preserve the "aluminum" frames? I tried to mask mine and it was a hell of a job.

    Cheers

    Dave,

I push the front and back windows out the window frames and glue them back after painting, if this doesn't work then I use a masking fluid that is applied with a brush.

(put I prefer to remove the windows, it always worked until now as they apply not much glue in the factory so you can push them out rather easily [IMG])

For the side windows, I close them and put masking tape on the in- and outside.

Never used masking fluid. I'll give it a try on the SD40-2.

    Again....nice work.

    Cheers

    Other questions...

Have you put sound in any GP9's? If so, how? and have you left out some of the screws that hold the hood to the frame? Seems there is a bit of over-kill in that area particilarly if you need easy access to receivers etc.

    Cheers

    Dave,

I find that putting sound in every locomotive is very expensive  especially if one uses the Pfoenix sound modules.

I bought one Phoenix sound module as my locomotives will be used on a large modular switching layout (not in the garden).

We are also going to exhibitions with our layouts and when you place the sound inside the locomotive then the soundeffect is completely lost due to the big halls, other noises and people talking around. [IMG]

The sound module is connected to an amplifier and large speakers are under the layout. This gives a superrealistic sound, especially when the turbosound starts!!

it's like having the real thing inside the house or clubroom :D :D
