Cool!!!I'd love to see it in action sometime!!!
It's kinda nice that Wharton County's got rail service again!!!

I remember as a kid seeing some occassional SP action in the Wharton area in the 60's.
About 15 years ago I drove from Flatonia to Freeport for Christmas.
On a whim I decided to take the back way into Wharton from Eagle Lake via
    Bonus and Matthews.

Except for a small portion used by a railroad supply company in Eagle Lake, the old Sealy-Matagorda Line was abandoned.
Even as a kid,I don't recall too much activity on the line.

I do remember seeing a lot of cotton bales on the platform at the GC&SF Depot in Glen Flora in the early 70's as well as a bunch of Santa Fe Freight Cars on the siding by the depot-mainly Plug Door Ice Reefers.

I noticed that some of the tracks were still in place on the Wharton-Bay City Line as far as Newgulf Junction in December'94.
Now,as the old song by'Kansas'goes, all they are is dust in the wind.

Hmm!!A set of"Auto Rack Cars"sitting alone on a siding in the middle of nowhere??
You sure it's not one of those"Death Trains"the Conspiracy Theorists talk about??

Seriously though, there are a number of videos on YouTube about the so called'Death Trains'!!
Seems they beleive that Centerbeam Flatcars are really"Guillotine Cars"and Autorack Cars are gonna be used to transport people to Concentration Camps!!!
Okay. You can pick yourself up off the floor now!!!

UPRR Locomotive on KCS-Rosenberg to Victoria Line

Today, I saw a UPRR Locomotive pulling some coil cars and hoppers sidetracked on the KCS Rosenberg-Victoria Line (Old SP Spaghetti Line) around Edna and Ganado. Was just wondering what was going on. KCS must be trying to get any revenue they can--what with the economy being in a slump.

It might just be a UP locomotive in KCS service. I see KCS engines in UP consists every now and then so I would assume they get paid back in hours in kind with UP engines.
