Thanks for the heads up, Ron. I checked out the History Channel website and the program does look promising.

I'll have to make sure to set the ol' VCR (yes, I still use my trusty Mitsubishi VHS to time-shift programs!).

I searched on my satellite for it, and it's not yet in the forecast. I will be DVR'ing it when it comes on! Thanks for the heads-up!

My reputation at work proceeds me, and 2 coworkers told me about it this morning.....;):D

Yes...I will set my DVR but can't until a week before. It's not showing up on the digital guide yet. Also the Tougher in Alaska episode on the Alaskan RR was a good one. Wonder if this is going to be in HD???

I think that is the first episode. It is to far in advance to get the details of other episodes. At least on my AT&T Uverse.

    From Trains Magazine News Wire
"Extreme Trains" series to debut on History Channel

    Published: Wednesday, October 29, 2008
NEW YORK - A new eight part television series, Extreme Trains, will premiere on Tuesday Nov. 11 at 10 p.m. (Eastern) on the History Channel. The series will examine the inner workings of the trains that haul freight across the nation and deliver passengers to their destinations. The series will highlight the part railroads have played in shaping American history and how they are vital to American life today. Each episode tells the story of one train, with host Matt Bown riding along and sometimes working alongside the crew. Upcoming episodes include:

Coal Train. Matt joins the coal train hauling a cargo of coal through Pennsylvania from mine to power plant. (November 11)
Freight Train. Going from the port of Los Angeles to Dallas/Fort Worth, this high-priority freight train brings goods from the Far East to stores across the U.S. (November 18).
High Speed Amtrak Acela Train. A look at Amtrak's Washington-Boston Acela, the fastest train in America. This episode also looks at historic Penn Station and why it was demolished (November 25).

Future episodes will cover Union Pacific refrigerated trains, steam trains, Amtrak's Empire Builder and the Ringling Brothers Circus Train. More information can be found at Extreme Trains - History.com.

This was from the Trains magazine website. Hope it helps. I'll be watching also.

When my rail magazines arrive in the mail, my kids always say: "Good, Dad can breath again!" I'm getting tuned up for this because from what I'm hearing, I'll be "gulping wind"...!

    NICE!

The History Channel (And the International one too) have some nice programming. The wife and I enjoy watching it.

It is good to know that us train buffs are still thought of! 8-D

I wonder if we should start a discussion group on this series?

Don't forget this show tomorrow night! I'm going to leave notes all over the house so I don't forget. Since I don't have a VCR, DVD Recorder, or Tivo I have to rely on the ancient art of note leaving :D

George, from what is sounds like, this show should be worth being a walking zombie!!:tb-biggrin:
I checked the Direct TV guide, and it shows it coming on at 8 pm, with another showing at midnight. The woman has a show she watches at 8 so I have the midnight showing set to record, which means I won't get to see it till after work on wed. =(

I can confirm the coal train and I'm also seeing next week's as a freight traveling from Dallas to LA, with mention of rain storms in NM and traveling through the Mohave desert. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll have some cab views traveling through here in Tucson.
