Might I say, your creation is superb! Before you paint it though, you might want to explore the option of cloning the masterpiece thru resin casting. Of course it would be a tedius task of detail dis-assembly, molding and casting but if you could make more for yourself then you'd have more! I am saying this from experience as in early 2004 I scratch built a beautiful 3 bay PS2 covered hopper. First one of it's kind in modern z. The Yahoo Z_Scale group loved it. Anyways, I knew nothing of cloning with resin. I painted it and it turned into a mess. When I tried to strip it, it, well, screwed up! I was very discouraged. Because of that one hurtful experience I learned how to make RTV molds and cast in resins. Been doing it ever since! For this reason I suggested the same thing when David Freehling created an SD70ACe. Good thing he was making two of them as he had already painted the first. I took on the job of making 50 shells of his second ACe and fellow modelers have them all over the world.

You should think about cloning your master!!!!!

    Hi Tim,

Sorry, I won't copy this shell. It is not good enough for reproduction, in my opinion. ...and I have spent quit some evenings on the handrails... Eventually, I will build an other shell sometime when this one is completed (that will be better). Furthermore, shortening the chassis was a real challenge. To me, this was much more a challenge than converting the chassis for my ZTHEK SW1 and not recommendable to most modellers. I even had to build a simple mini lathe from my Dremmel for drilling the worms and chassis holes. I am still hoping that MTL will release the announced SW1500, this would give me a good chassis for a SW1000 and some others.... (the MP15Ac and MP15DC are a little longer).
I decided to try the resin copying first on a simple (still to build) car body first. .. and next I have to try the etching (so far I only did simple PCB's). Meantime I can enjoy switching with the SW1000.
