Finished! So Tim, mine is ready to roll! Thanks again for the decals and assembly guide. I did my Maxi III with some mild weathering. The photos are a bit ordinary....
Awesome!!! Gerd, They look awesome!!!! Congratulations as I think you are the first to finish the FR Maxi III kit and post photos!!!! You did a Great job on FR's kit. Thanks for posting the photos. Hobo Tim
Hi all, thanks! But I'm not the first finishing off the kit, Markus from Germany was a couple of days quicker, but I think he is not posting here
I final am getting around to finishing my kits and have a couple of questions. Did you install the walkways before or after applying the base paint color? If you did it after what did you use to attach the walkways? My initial thought is to install them after priming and base coating the cars. Then use CA or an epoxy to attach them.
Two more proud owners of FR's Maxi III's I want to add to this thread that two more people will soon be recieving Maxi III well cars that I assembled and airbrushed way back when this thread was started. Was not till this past Saturday that I finally put the decals on them. The two of you who have these Maxi III's coming be sure and post photos to this thread!!!! Hobo Tim
I got mine on Saturday, and Tim did a great job of assembling and painting the kit. I have a small layout, so it has some pretty tight radius. Initially, it had derailing problems, but I saw what was causing it. It was the ends touching, so I file down the ends. This solve the problem and no more derailing.
Anyone Else!!! Has anyone else built one of these FR Maxi III kits??? Please Post Photos Here!!!! Hobo Tim
I've built a set. I just need to paint them and take some photos. What a great kit! :tb-biggrin: Hats off to Harald.
Hi Eddie, Have build the Maxi III too and a couple of single well cars from FR, very nice kits, no doubt. Hope you get your PC running, I want to see some "evidence"
Here is my freshly painted double stack set. My kit was missing the brake wheel and housing, but Harald (FR) was quick to re-place the missing parts, so I'll re-take some photos once everything is finished and weathered. The containers are my own. I might be making some for sale in the future... for now I've got another 45-50 to paint for my own train. The decals are from Tim and Robert. Thanks guys!
Southern Pacific Maxi III... ...built for Volker Toepfer in Germany. Kit by Freudenreich, Decals designed by Tim Buehring, assemblt, paintjob and weathering by myself
Very Nice!!! Gerd, It's been a long time since I've seen anyone build one of these beasts! They are very nice. If I am not mistaken, this is the first one I've seen one in the SP paint/decal scheme. Looks very nice!!! I know this is an exciting kit to assemble. Have build 7 of them in the past but all have been TTX. Seeing this SP is refreshing!!! Great job Gerd! Hobo Tim
