Saw a loco today with these letters,FURX, was an SD40-2. who does it belong to? By the way it was in Smyrna GA. in a consist of two other CSX units. Robert
These are SD40-2s in SD40 carbodies. All are own by First Union Leasing company (FURX). CSX has 50 of these locomotives on long-term lease (3 years). These started arriving on CSX rails back in February, got my first shot of one in Selkirk, NY on Feb 21st. Forgot to mention they are numbered 3000-3049. ------------------ Corey Lynch VP - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W [This message has been edited by Harron (edited 30 August 2000).]
Corey, Nice picture! First Union is a banking "giant" with branches from Florida up the mid-Atlantic states (and probably beyond, who can keep up with those mega-mergers nowadays). Their corporate "colors" are green and white. Maybe all of the rest of the banks will get in on the action, and we'll get some Bank of America (BOAX) B40-8's or some Citibank (CITX) C60AC's Chessie ------------------ Harold Hodnett Fan of NS, CSX, and their predecessors!
