Been 'working' on the coal bunker trestle work today since 6 or so. Not for the whole time, in spits n spurts! Installed track support boards, cross members, ballast and locator posts for the bunker.

Still much to do, building details, weeds and foliage, lights....

Coal chutes and mechanisms, water spout, sand tanks, ash pits.......

Naw, he lives over with the Moose! The Buff will just have to pal around with this guy....

Trying to get critters that fit the area at the time, I have deer, donkeys, cows, dogs and horses. Need to add Elk, Bear, Mountain lions and sheep. Lots of sheep. This area was thick with them in the 20's, as Americans ate a lot of lamb and wore a lot of wool, it was a lucrative business.

Moose still get spotted around here, always along the river.

Made some more minor progress on the coal bunker,
    PIC_0002.JPG PIC_0004.JPG

Followed by clearing the construction detritus away for a bit of train running. Metal tools seem to short out the rails.....

With that accomplished, the GN moved it's train along,

And the NP's excursion to New Mexico's THERR and to WA's MT&P has ended and she has returned to home rails!

Many thanks to the care with which she was handled by all parties! And to the fine video's!
Now we all wait with baited breath when THERR's CFO will cough up for a P4 or similar steam loco for those special runs......
And the MT&P is definitely going to have to do something about the infestation on their rails.....

Back to railroading away in my little fantasy world!! :coffee: ;)

The only steam on THERR is from a hot cup of coffee sitting on the corner of the layout !! :coffee::p

The coal bunker look very good. But, don't you think a good stopper at end of rail would be a good idea. We don't want any surprises.

I didn't see the end of the coaling track, so I don't know if maybe it is a run-through or bidirectional arrangement.

Shortround and Jake - There will be a winch mechanism and stopper at the end of track. Most NP bunkers had a winch system to get the gon's up. I figure they probably had a loco or two dive through the ramp!

Remember - "Model Railroading is FUN," and the camaraderie is a big part of that!
