I didn't see any room for motors or power generating equipment, unless the tail was supposed to be supplying electricity.
A quite interesting concept. Will be interesting to see what actually does come to pass. Of which I'm sure won't be long off. Thanks for sharing
That is my guess. I am wondering what it's power consumption might be? Also how two traveling opposite directions might meet and pass? Or what would happen if there is any sort of failure, en route? Overall, a fascinating and quite original idea.
I think its best benefit would be in areas where hydroelectric is a large percentage of the power grid. It's possible that each unit could have high energy fast charge batteries that are flash-charged at each station. Either that, or small nuclear-electric generators similar to what the Russians were using in some of their space vehicles.
True, but I just don't understand the need of a powered sustentation, that burns energy whichever this comes from, rather than just rolling on a path, would it be rails, tar or anything else... In my opinion flying is just of no interrest if one has to depend on ground provided infrastructure all the way long... But it's only my opinion. Dom
Dom, I agree with your position. I see no reason to devise transportation systems or deviations thereof beyond one or two rails, or any other type of guided conveyance that occupies minimal ground space. America has invested billions of Dollars and acres in Interstates that convey less volume of freight and people each year than the remaining rail infrastructure, yet have despoiled tens to hundreds of times the rural and urban acreage. GRRRRR! OK, off my soap box. Sadly, the elected, or self-appointed "leaders" make decisions that embellish their egos and/or pocket books, while the "silent majority" stands silently by, emphasis on "Silently", myself included.
Too many silent people. Also, (unfortunately), too many who haven't a clue, who keep getting in the way with flaky ideas. It's a mess and a maze to get anything worth while from concept to reality.
