Suites me fine. I have a laundry list of things to get so I hope I'm ready for it by the holidays! Looking forward to it.
Guys, Thanks for the roadname requests. Actually now is the perfect time to bring it up because we are currently working on the roadname priority list for the GP30. Cheers! -Rob(A)
Road-names... Denver & Rio Grande Western (with the large logo), Union Pacific, Chessie (B&O or C&O, I'm not picky), BNSF, AT&SF...
NS please. They had at least five of them......... Number 2610 would be my choice. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=9104
Hi Rob, don't get me wrong, but...which holiday season? There are couple of choices... BTW: engine looks great and would we very nice in CB&Q (but please in red and grey...)
The only version of a SD30 is a bash of 2 GP30 shells. IIRC had an article in MR many years ago. The modeler cut the GP30 before/after the dynamic brake blister to make it fit on a longer frame. Not sure what SD made the donor guts. Phase 2 GP30's Should have a slightly longer cab. UP wanted space for a brakeman to ride the cab up front with the engine crews. Not sure if some cabs have a "desk" to replace the one in the caboose? You need good pictures from the fireman's side to find a longer cab. Check out Walther's website. The Phase 2 GP30 puts 12" behind the fireman's cab to add a 3rd seat. Per union rules on some roads, this puts 3 crew in the cab. MILW 1000 No Info The MILW had 15 of them. 1000-1015. Pictures of UP 844 UP fans may like one of this. Lesser known #844 Drive the Nscalers nuts. Atlas has only done Phase 1 GP30's. The difference is in having a nose headlight or a high headlight (or both)
Phases? I'm glad Glenn brought up the question of phases and the cabs. I'm coming late to this discussion and may have missed it, but what phase is being modeled by AZL? I want my GP30's in SOU RWY. Randy
It amazes me how far Z Scale has advanced. I give two thumbs up to anyone that listens and makes changes to a model based on feedback from the modelers that will be buying and using them. Very impressive!
yes, i have to agree with Rio Grande, they ran them even until merger, and some still run on the Wheeling and Lake Erie. GP30s on the Rio Grande are iconic. dave f.
