WOW.:yes9rq: :yes9rq: :w20z6q: I have never been there, but I feel like I have been there. Just by looking at your work. Fantastic! Makes me want to build Belt Creek as a diorama.. ARGH! You MILW guys are getting into my head! Maybe I should build a diorama of Tunnel 27 instead..
Ken, This layout will be set up in a future building. My father and I own 12 acres of land we plan to build storage units on. We figured we'd build a bigger one on it for ourselves to store our personal items (camping trailer, bigger tools, etc) including all my moms season stuff. So we also figured this would be a good spot to put something like this up in until I find my own home with a large basement. In the meantime, the sections when finished will be stored in my fathers empty retail space. He owns a shopping plaza and there are a few spots (the ones in the corners which are less likely to find tenants due to visibility) in which I can store these until the storage facility is built. So when one section gets finished it will be stored to make room to build the next.
Belt Creek area is near Waltham, MT, on the North Montana Line, between Lewistown and Great Falls. Tunnel 27 as I'm referring, is about 36 miles west of Denver, CO on the old D&RGW... I'm sure there is a MILW Tunnel 27, but I'd have no idea where it's at.
mg: If you're going to be a model railroader, you must have the proper terms ! That should be a basement, with attached house! Remember, all else is secondary to the hobby! Ha ha.... Boxcab E50
Haha. That would be the dream. But your ideal is all too apparent in my bedroom at home. I have forfeited my bed for the 13 feet of track. I currently sleep on a blow-up bed! Seriously... As you can imagine my dog is pissed as he has slept on my bed since he was a puppy, and he is now 13 yrs old. The blow-up bed is a little smaller than a twin. He used to sleep on a king. So he now finds refuge on a dog pillow made for dogs.
New pics. Added some sagebrush and more grass. Roads are finished, they all have lines now. Sage Brush will be coming here soon...lots of sagebrush as this is a lot of empty space!
WOW!!! Is the background a photoshop addition? Have you shortened the fuel tanks on those Dash 2s?    Boxcab E50
The Dash 2s do have shorted fuel tanks. I am going to do the rest of them here soon. Yes all the phos have been photoshoped. I have not had any time to make my backdrops yet. They will be something similar to what you see. Laying the sage is tedious work. Its so small and it's everywhere over there. Ken you should see my rail images album for an exciting little surprise!
When I was in N-scale, I had two of the Kato 40-2's and took the frames apart, shortend the material under the fuel tanks, and then the tanks themselves. It really adds to the looks! I kinda' miss 'em.
15' 11 3/4" Shortening the tanks isn't that bad. Just move slowly not to bend the frames (yes they do bend) and to not shave off the brackets for the contact brass strips. Great times  If anyone needs this done I've done about 15 so far, including a couple Greg now has. I can do them for a fair price: $10/unit for N scale. This includes shortening the frame, shortening the tank, filling/sanding, and repainting the tank black.
Man your work never cease's to amaze me Greg. The shortened fuel tanks look great, makes me want to go shorten some of my BN GP38's tanks. Hey Peter, do you still got those MILW SD80MAC's? I was thinkin about doing some of my own. Kevin D Mumaw
Kevin, Yup still have those SD90's in Milwaukee. You'll need to stop by next time you're over on this side. I've got some projects to show you. Take care of my "K" Line containers - all 3 per month we ship out of Seattle with you guys.
Kevin, I dug them out but I also found some NP fantasy '70MAC's that I did a few years back. Here they are:
I'm not much of a fan for newer styles of diesels. (Give me an F unit.... ) But those colors bring some class to that sheet metal. Boxcab E50
laid some more sage... and picked up some gondola's today! and last but not least, happy b-day to me! Can’t wait to have some of my mom’s vanilla butternut pound cake. I am now officially 24!
