Hi, all. John Acosta here, a student of Rick Howland AKA Barstow Rick, both of us from Big Bear Lake, CA. I apologize for the months-long radio silence on my end but the fact is the layout is dismantled and part of it moved to our new place in Palm Springs where I am now semi-retired. I am now working on restoring power to one section of the layout (Davidsville); just waiting on the electrician to install the overhead track (no pun intended) lights. And some exciting news came my way a few weeks ago, this layout was selected to be in a well-known model railroad magazine and is scheduled to be in the March edition. I will post updates here. John
Indeed you have been quiet for a while. Glad to know the layout will be revived. It is a beauty. Looking forward to updates!
Welcome back, Jim! You and your fine modeling have been missed. Nice to know you're back to keep us impressed and inspired.
Hi all, it's confirmed....my layout will be featured in the March issue of Model Railroader (which comes out in early February). It is already briefly mentioned in the current (February) issue, which just came out. John
Congratulations! You deserve to have your excellent work showcased. Will be on the lookout for the magazine next month.
UPDATE: my railroad made the cover sheet of the next issue of Model Railroader magazine: https://www.trains.com/?r3d=model-r...jTd6tJJAtLjNqeomw4SKKMyUhN7TXQuxLUD-fqpTzvh-Q
Congratulations and good to see you back, John. I just received my March Model Railroader yesterday and, not having seen your post, was pleasantly surprised to see the article on your layout. I haven't yet had time to read the article, but did peruse the selection of excellent photos like those we have been treated to here on Trainboard. Great work!
