The Month of March 2008 marks 8 years since Trainboard was first introduced to the Model Railroad Community. We have come a long way since then. So…. resent: :cake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRAINBOARD :cake: resent: As part of our celebration we are asking you to consider posting anything about Trainboard; Such as… What are some of the differences you experienced between the past and present? What do you think Trainboard will look like in the future? What features or services would you suggest, that will enhance your Trainboard experience? Or anything else you would like to contribute concerning Trainboard.
Yes, Happy Birthday! I guess I have been around since a month after the beginning. So many memories. I had some screen prints from the old days, showing the old formats, but I can't find them. Anyone have some old ones to compare to today's very refined version? I miss some great people who contributed a lot to the site, like Johnny Trains and Gil Abar who have "caught the westbound." Also miss Tom Gerbracht, Ron Morse and others who kept the New York Central forum cookin', but seem to have drifted away. The place has grown and expanded (like me) very nicely, with RailImages, Railseek, the Marketplace and blogs. The people here are so helpful to one another it's a pleasure to be a part of such a group, where flames and personal attacks are not part of our agenda. I say, great job to everyone who has contributed even a message to Trainboard. I won't venture to predict the future, but based on the past, TB will just continue to get better. :tb-biggrin:
WOW, time does fly by quickly when you are having fun. It was eight years ago on March 16th when I joined TB and it's been a great railfan trip all it's own...
I've been here since not long after the beginning, having joined in March of 2000. Since then, I've changed jobs & geographic locations, but have still stayed here. I'm sure I've given Charlie fits now & then, and even had the opportunity to meet him in person* (as well as a few of you guys as well). Still, thru thick & thin, I've stayed on staff and on board. This forum has become the one of choice for me, and I am a member on several forums on Yahoo, as well as www.frisco.org and that "A" forum. *yes, we got along, no, he didn't boot me off, so there.......
I think we all feel this way.:teeth: I've been to alot of forums, trains, cars, anything that moves, etc. and alot of those forums always have the usual bashers, flamers, and general know-it-alls! It's like family here. Happy Birthday Trainboard.com and many more years to come!!!
Of Friends and Home My personal gratitude to those who have given so generously of themselves that I have come so far. Trainboard counting eight Friends sharing knowledge joy sadness Past present future Happy New Beginnings on the Vernal Equinox.
Wow! Eight years already? Like a lot of you guys, I came on board not long after TB sarted. Some will recall that I was a moderator until the needs of my PhD work interrupted that! The thing about TB is that the format has always been user friendly and even with expansion it has remained so. Also the general rules and regulations keep this a fun and friendly place to be...in fact I go nowhere else. You all have been a great help to me and I hope to have been able to help some of you. TB is now well established and I can see no reason that it will not grow well into the future. Here is to all the hard work of Charlie, the staff, and all of you my friends...Happy Birthday!
Like Russ, I found my first post was April Fool's Day 2000, too. Never did get an answer... Again, it's been a varied existence in these last 8 years. Quit a job after 22 years and my partner and I moved half way around the world working, had a son, and moved half way back meeting may people along the way, including some of the TrainBoard members. I've been a moderator then admin for a long time and I thank Charlie and Scott for creating the idea and the staff and members at large for maintaining the friendly and co-operative nature of TrainBoard through a myriad of ups and downs. So, Happy Birthday TrainBoard!, and may you have many more
Happy Birthday TrainBoard, Thanks to Charlie, and Thanks to all our members! Like Lownen, I was on several other train forums, but after finding this one, I moved in here 100%. So far I've met 5 TrainBoarders.
I joined on March 21st, 2000, almost from day one. My first post was, ironically, right here in the Inspection Pit. Trainboard has been a great place to call home. I joined the "A" board way back then but never really liked it. I thought there were way too many posts and topics scrolled off the main page too fast. Not to mention the crass attitudes of some of the posters. That why I like it here. This is a GREAT forum. Let's keep it alive and well for many years to come.
Congrates to Charlie & all staff members from the start. I'm proud to be a new staff member & to call this place home. TB,the best on the web.
Thanks to Charlie, Paul and the whole staff of Trainboard for all their work behind the scenes that makes Trainboard the best of the 'net! Happy birthday! OK, how do you search posts longer than 1000 post ago? I need to go WAY back to 2001 to get my first post.
In the words and voice of Marilyn Monroe, "Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you". We've had loads of fun here. We've shared a lot of good information. Managed to help each other answer questions. Fix various types of equipment. Swap or trade a bunch of stuff. Provide picture proof. Even scratchbuild a caboose or two. No, I don't remember my first posting here. To sum it all up, "It's been good!" During my time here I've learned to trust the guys and gals here on TrainBoard. From the Administrator to the Newbie...Thank You! Be safe and take care of yourselves. You're the only self you got. .
