    Hi Gang,
Has anyone installed or tried to install a working Microtrains coupler, either Z Scale or N Scale on the front of a Bachmann 4-8-2 Mountain. Theres a coupler on there now but its not a working coupler and is only there for looks. A working MT Z 905 looks like it would be a good fit for the front of this loco, any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Bob:question:

Wish I had an answer. I took the dummy coupler off while doing some work on mine, and lost it.....

I went and checked both of my Mountains the light and heavy since I did not catch which one. Both of mine have a non working coupler but I may have replaced the stock dummy with another from my parts box on both since both will connect to an MT should I ever desire a helper on front. And it has been so long ago that I can't remember if I ever evaluated whether either one of the locos could have the coupler replaced and why I did not. It may have been because of pilot truck swing interference or that I would have had to chop too much on the pilot.

If you want to install a working coupler, you'll have to use a mini jeweler's file to gently file away part of the pilot in order to fit the coupler box.
