    CONRAIL BABY!

Well I'm glad to hear we have a forum exclusively for Conrail buffs like myself.

Here is a pic of an Indiana and Ohio train with an ex CR now LLPX leader.

Here is a pic of a NS c40-8 ex CR at Tylersville Road Crossing MP240 on the NS dayton district in ohio.

This CSX ex CR C30-7 is my favorite Conrail picture, since that is me on the front pilot while working for the Ohio Central Railroad in Youngstown, OH in 2004. This is a stoned train being unloaded. I think CSX has retired all of these units.

Well I know it is about four years too late, but here we go. Here is a NS ex CR SD80MAC at Cassandra, PA in March 2008. Plus a picture of a rare Super7 Ohio Central Railroad at Zanesville, OH in 2008.

Hamilton, OH April 2008 US Rail Corporation had a borrowed a CSX ex CR GP38-2 for power, it was later replaced with an LTEX GP15-1 which was an ex NS , ex CR unit.

In Rushville, IN in July 2008 I got a picture of an SW engine in CR paint on the Honeycreek Railroad.

the first two pics were taken in Minerva, Ohio rail yard belonging to Ohi Rail.

The third pic is along the NS River Line in Steubenville, OH.

The fourth pic is two ex CR transfer cabooses, probably ex NYC at the Whitewater Valley Railroad in Connersville, IN.

The last pic is two ex CR ballast hoppers belonging to the Ohio Central Railroad in Zanesville, OH.

I have been a Conrail fan for a long time. Most of my HO locos are Conrail. My in-progress layout is largely based on the Philadelphia area, a lot of my rolling stock is Conrail tuscan (or is it brown or maroon?). So Conrail's "fallen flag" is flying high around my layout. I also have some Conrail photos to decorate the train room, along with a couple of Conrail T-shirts to wear while workin' on the railroad. I am happy to make this first post as an acknowledgement of my affinity for Conrail.

This is impressive too! GP15-1 CSX ex Conrail in Dolton, Illinois taken 10-19-09.

Oh and there are no longer any SD80's left in Conrail Blue on the NS, they were all painted over recently.

That ex Conrail Super7 #4099 is no longer wearing blue paint. It was within the last month painted into Genesee and Wyoming orange. Its the first Ohio Central locomotive to the G&W paint scheme.

Back in late 90's a family friend used to work for Conrail. When he passed away a few years latter his family got rid of all his Conrail stuff before I could claim it they just trashed it all the only thing I still have is a Conrail cap from 1995 from they're safety day. He had some N scale locos and a lot of conrail related stuff. I live in Cleveland Ohio close to the Collinwood yard. This was a major Conrail Yard now it belongs to CSX. I now mostly model CSX and anything related to CSX like Chessie C&O/B&O. Since I acquired a lot of CSX, Chessie and C&O/B&O N scale models from my uncle. But I will always have a soft spot for Conrail.

Hello all! I'm new as of a few minutes ago and im really happy to see a conrail fans topic!!! Obviously as my name implies, i am a conrail fan. I love modeling Conrail, specifically the office car specials. I just completed some, which i will post soon. I also like to model the odd conrail rolling stock from the Penn Central, Jersey Central etc. take overs. My father is a Jersey central fan and it is fun putting cars on the layout that were CNJ and are in the initial stencils conrail used before full makeovers. I'm working on a covered hopper now that was a CNJ coastguard sceme, which i will post as well on the forum. Hello once again to fellow conrail fans!

I am a Big Blue fan from way back. My first cabride was in a CR SD45. I was kneehigh to a grasshopper then, but got to blow the horn, and sit in the engineer's lap. My dad came with me, and the conductor or brakeman drove dad's truck to a crossing several miles down the line. I'll never forget it.
My grandfather worked PRR/PC/Conrail for 27 years before retiring on disability.
Being out west, I don't see much CR, but here's a shot from Cheyenne, WY on 2004:

Hi, new member here. Grew up 1 block from MP-11 on the NYC's West Shore Line (River Line to Conrail, River Sub to CSX) and saw NYC, PC, and then CR disappear. Not even sure how the whole thing went down. I had thought Conrail was fiercely independent and tried to fend off takeover attempts. I guess the bottom line was the almighty buck. Not particularly a CSX fan since they changed from the Chessie System and not an NS fan either. Now you know why I model the 60's thru the 90's.
