Ok, Here's 2 of my 4 DCC equipped units so far, as well as a recently built sandtower, still got the other one to build then I'll paint them(based off of Hillyard's sand tower photos from my SP&S diesels book.)

I usually look for the "cull" doors in the damaged section. Since I am putting scenery on top of it, I don't need a perfect surface and cull doors are usually much cheaper. (It is hard to score a 36" wide HCD in the damaged aisle but I have a couple.)

Great idea, Andy. Stretching the dollars is always helpful!

I picked up a 36" wide HCD door for $5 at Menards the other day. I don't even see any damage; there is no frame but I don't care about that.

Menards is usually the best for finding dinged HCDs. Home Depot sends any damaged doors back and Lowes (or at least the ones around here in Northern VA) charges too much or insists a "dinged" door is all right.

I've been known to use visits home to pick up cull HCDs from Menards in Northern IL and bring them back to NoVA.

Another option is to find 18" wide HCDs from bifold closet doors. I think they make great shelf or switching layouts.

I would bet you are correct since Atlas blocked the photos. Lowell has yet to put the GP9s on his website. The last release he shows is the broad band F7s. The GP9s are long over due. I wonder which paint scheme Atlas is doing? Thanks for the heads up.

Way back when Atlas was putting their upcoming GP9 release on FB, I asked lowell if he could do unnumbered units in both schemes. He said he'd ask about it, The scheme won't bug me as there was quite a bit of variety in the SP&S fleet in the 60s. I'm only hoping that the RS3's are released soon.

    #750,

A little bird revealed the new GP9s will be in broad band paint. I will be in for a couple at least, though not my era. He said the RS3s will begin shipping near the first of April. I am looking forward to seeing them run on the layout. I was hoping to get them prior to the Meet N March, after waiting for so long.... China*#! Here is hoping the GPs will not be the same.

Have a great time in Chehalis.

Sweet they'll fit right in! I will definitely enjoy Chehalis, a weekend away from work that has a train show. I still need to get a frame(Atlas china) for my SP&S RS1 shell MRL Dave sent me. then some decoders for the remaining units, and units I'm expecting.

So after my visit to Home depot today I got a 36 x 80 HCD, I'll patch the door knob hole eventually. I've started my measurments for the Legs and benchwork, the layout will stand 4 feet and 2-4 inches tall as the door will rest in a cradle with the legs under it attached to the main frame.

It was larger than I expected but nonetheless, I'll get it sorted out and a mock track plan drawn up on the board itself.
