There's a rail museum there at http://www.northalabamarailroadmuseum.com/ and also look at http://joesrailfanning.com/huntsville.html You might also look at http://www.alabamarailfan.com/railfanning.php?location=Huntsville The Space & Rocket Center is also very cool at http://www.nasa.gov/centers/marshall/about/visitor.html It's a beautiful part of Alabama. West by a few dozen miles is busy Decatur where NS (ex-SOU east/west) and CSX (ex-L&N north/south) share a river crossing on a giant lift bridge. There's lots of action there and you can shoot the action safely from a nearby highway bridge. (Don't go down to the bridge interlocking, else the railroad police will arrive within seconds. ) There's also a nice depot in Decatur too. Have fun.
