Hello from Central Texas. As many, I have been visiting the forum for a while and finally decided to introduce myself. I first got interested in model trains in the late 50’s with my Dad’s Lionel Santa Fe F growlers. Since that time I have been on and off with model railroading, never seeming to finish a layout. Since retiring I had an O Scale layout that again was not completed before downsizing and moving to a smaller home. I have since almost completed an HO 18” X 13’ DCC shelf layout in the garage. As many are aware, Texas summers are brutal, high temps and humidity. I needed something I could work on inside with air conditioning and have seen what people are doing with T-trak, so I’m trying my luck with n scale. I am looking forward to learning and sharing ideas.

Welcome aboard Dave. I like the steamer photo as a dedicated steam nut.

Fitz, thanks for the welcome. My model train collection is missing steam but look forward to posting some steam pictures in the prototype weekend thread.

Welcome, you will like N Scale if you can fit one inside the air conditioning :) Good luck!

No permanent place in the ac but the 12 x 12 modules make it just fine.

Welcome! With plenty of friends in the SA and Austin area that I've visited in the summers, I think you've chosen well to have found an indoor hobby lol

Thanks for the welcome. I have spent the week checking out the many forums and threads. There is a lot of great photos and information on so many areas of railroading. Still learning the many functions available to members and look forward to participating when I can.

Welcome from Ohio. Our son is at Fort Hood and just spent two weeks "camping" in the desert with his squad of tankers and their Abrams tanks. His daily Snapchat posts highlighted their daily temps. It was definitely toasty.

Hi Dave, welcome to "The Trainboard". There are a great number of very talented and knowledgeable folks here that are more than willing to share and help. All we have to do is ask.

i was born/raised in El Paso and my wife and I lived in Arlington for 5-6 years back in the mid '70's. Never got used to the humidity, came back to good ole dry Albuquerque and then El Paso.

    Have fun, be well.

Carl thanks for the welcome, since I am fairly new to n scale I am sure there will be questions coming in the future.
