I have a hon3 concor goose I bought the DC non sound version a while back and recently put tsunami tsu750 decoder into it. Everything works sounds and all but it looses power about every inch it moves down the track. So i bought a soundtraxx current keeper installed that let it charge up on the track for at least 5 minutes then lifted the goose off the track and the sounds stayed on as the goose was no longer on the tracks, to me that tells me that the current keeper is working properly. It still runs like crap even with the current keeper.

My guess is either that the track pickup is so bad that the current keep cant recharge quick enough or maybe there is something wrong with the motor. The little red light stays illuminated on the decoder even when it shows signs of power loss. I'm not sure exactly whats going on but was hoping some one does. Thanks.

Have you tried resetting the decoder to default values?

Did you run the loco under DC for a break in? Almost sounds like a contact issue.

I had the hobby shop run it in DC since it did not come with DCC and don't remeber it running so bad other wise I wouldn't have bought it. Wheels are clean and so is the track. And yes I did reset the decoder. I am currently in the process of making all new power pick ups. Hope this is the fix.

    Sounds like a shot motor....

If you apply power to it, on your work bench, (off track), will it run smoothly?

So I built new wheel wipers for electrical pickup and at first it didn't seem to make a difference but after doing some tests I disconnected the motor and rolled it around on the track and things seemed to be working fine. I tested the motor out of the goose on the bench and it is in perfect operating order. I thinking there may be something wrong with the motor circuit on the decoder. I am going to convert it back to DC and see how it runs.

Chasing gremlins. Ugh. Sometimes investing in aspirin stock is useful. :(

I'd wire up the decoder on the bench with the motor and see if it works. If it does, I would then check the chassis for a dead spot. This would require a meter and testing for either voltage or continuity.

I'm not entirely sure I'm understanding the symptoms. If I'm reading it right, it sounds like the decoder lets it get up to speed, but then might be deciding you called for it to stop, and going into 'momentum' deceleration mode. Could that be it? Does it decelerate just the way it does when you tell it to stop?

If so, your decoder lost its little mind. If not, what IS it doing?

Same symptoms and here is what it took to fix. All of this was done over 18 months ago and nothing has been done since and my 2 geese run great.
1 Clean track and apply CRC 2-26 to rails. I got CRC from Home Depot Haven't need to touch track since.
2 Clean wheels and truck slots and axels. Then apply MG Chemicals "Silver Conductive Grease" to the slots in the truck that hold the axel. It's really pricey but its a key component to the fix. Amazon search for this.
3 1 0z lead in the space on either side of the motor. More if you are cleverer thanI am.
4 Solder all wires, everywhere. Don't use any of the connectors that came with the goose.
Each of these steps was necessary. I know because I did them one by one and each seemed to solve the problem but only for a few days and sometimes only for a few trips through the yard.
I normally say good luck but if you do as I suggest you won't need any. My fix took months talking to various goose owners. Blayne

So I took the tsunami out of the goose, wired back for DC tested and ran great. Installed a regular hard wire decoder I think dh126 digitrax, tested that and runs great with that decoder. Seems like the tsunami needs to go back to soundtraxx for repair. Thanks for the help guys.
