Hi all, Do any of you know how to wire a Micro Engineering On30 turnout? If you know how could you please post a drawing showing which kind of wire, pos or neg, goes the proper place. also the frog. The turnout may be the same as the HO model just larger. Thanks, Jim

I wish I could help Jim. I don't have a single ME switch on my MRR.
    Did you try contacting ME?

Sorry but when it comes to DCC, I am not experienced enough with the wiring issues. :(

RCman, Thank you. That looks like mine. Do I need a DPST? Or, any other type of switch wiring control? For my little engines I will need to power the frog in DC as well, do I need a power routing switch device for that?

Yes, you can use a micro-switch connected to the turnout so when you change the route the micro-switch changes to polarity of the frog, if you have the metal frog, if not then you are good to go without it.

I cannot tell from your picture. Post one from the top.

I do have a metal fully insulated frog. I'm assuming I need some type switch to 'light it up.'

I am just going to throw - hee hee hee - this out there.

When I was doing N scale I built an entire 23 switch layout without powered frogs. They were all Atlas c55. All my locos were able to traverse them no problem.

I think people are being too OCD about some things. can your locos go over the dead frog without stalling?

I couldn't even get through biology lab without stalling.

Basically the wiring of a DC and DCC turnout are exactly the same.

The question is, do your engines stall out on the switch frog? If they don't, then no additional wiring is necessary. If they do then you need to power the frog.

There are many ways to power the frog. You can have a micro switch mechanically linked to the throw bar, you can get Caboose Ind. ground throws with contacts in them, you can use a SPDT or DPDT switch to line the switch, you can use a mechanical linkage with a SPDT or DPDT switch in the linkage, you can power the switches with a Tortise or other switch machine and use or add contacts to that to power the frog. Lots of options.
