Dave - I am the designer and surprised to hear you did not get your models, other than designing, Shapeways do everything, I have never heard of anybody not getting what they ordered.
    Did you contact Shapeways?

I did and never heard back from them. I just figured the models were no longer available.

    Hi Dave

If the models are in my shop then they are available, shop owners can no longer have models not available indefinitely.

Even if I croak it [heaven forbid] the shop would just run on forever, once I upload a model I never have to do anything again.

I would get back on to them.

Not the right time to croak yet Sandy, I still have a long list of interurbans to do !

I like the interurbans but if I ever switched over I would have to do third rail for the areas in the port.

The Only thing I do not like about third rail is using a good piece of nickel silver rail for decoration. I would much prefer a decorative plastic rail. This is exactly why I haven't placed third rail on my elevated.

What about Plastruc or Evergreen I beams or Z scale rails. Although the plastic I beam would be easier to bend. I have to steeple cabs converted to diesel that are the mine power and if I did do third rail it would be from the mine to the ore dock in port.

I was thinking the same thing with plastruct beams of some sort...

    Randy and others

This is one of the reasons why we have the flexible 'welded rail' at N Scale Kits http://www.nscalekits.co.uk/welded_rail.html and in stock!

I am building, in the lockdown, an 'L' and an interurban underneath it for my club. and got some of the electrics done and checked this weekend! I have also designed some additional interurban shells for Shapeways, mainly PE and Key System cars for some Tomytec chassis.

That's a great idea I'm on board Peter ! BTW , did you know that the North Shore line ran TOFC trains on the elevated?

For those who do not know, the project shown by Sandy is the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee number 607. It was a derrick car. It is interesting to note that the 607 had a tonnage rating of 800 tons for use as a locomotive. During the war the railroad was very short on freight power so anything that had the ability to pull a load was used.

You have me thinking. I may build an all overhead wire from the mine to the village station where the ore trains are dropped off and conventional power takes them to the docks. And that would solve my issues of space in the dock areas. The overhead would cover the outside main and both tracks of the mine adding a nice visual effect. Hmm winter project maybe. And then add a small interurban car to the two steeple cabs to ferry the mine workers from the station to the mine.

So this is the first outing of the Hollywood Car - straight out of the Shapeways box and onto the Tomytec chassis - and onto the new layout. Sorry not very sophisticated and/or tweaked .... yet.

I was lucky enough to get a Miniatures By Eric Hollywood Car. 1 have built a 1100, a 1445 box motor, and I still have a Big Ten Hundred, a Portland Twelve and a 500...now I am watching out for Tomix chassis....

Yes - the Colorado Railroad Museum were using an old flatcar as a buffer car to shove their trolleys around the site. They had no details of the car in their inventory. However, close inspection showed that this was the very last of the Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee intermodal cars. The Museum has added extra welded bars to facilitate this use - but there was no disguising this unusual car.

The cars were one of the earliest intermodal service called 'Ferry-Truck' started in 1927- but the flatcars lived on long after the service was ended in 1947. I crawled all over it and got all the measurements from this last car and have developed a pattern - together with the trailers in resin and the unusual wheel locking devices that were used to lock the 17' trailers into position on the cars.

We hope to release the car in 2021 together with the trailers

Now I understand why so many electrics modelers have the poles but seldom the wire. Not much out there in N scale and what there is cost a bit for a small amount.

Naturally I'd want all four 1500-1503. Any plans to do the 60 foot cars? 1504-1513?

I made a decision a long time ago that I would try to build me own trolley poles and pantographs. If I equipped my entire fleet it would cost a bundle !

    Alexander,
What mechanisms should I use for your two SN models?
I've never done this kind of work.
    Are decals available?
