I've been getting a lot of questions about how our concept works, so I thought I would post to explain it. I'm sure some of you have seen my announcement of our Burlington NE-12 Caboose in the N scale forum, that project was commissioned by one of my local train club members.

First off, check out our FAQ here. You will find a list of our services and base prices. At the bottom of the page you will see a button, that will launch a webform to fill out to start the commissioning process.

The way the process works is as follows: the customer gives us as many references as they can, drawings, photos. We are independently building our own collection of resources as well, so there is a chance that we may have drawings and references for something already, and you wont have to lift a finger! Those materials are reviewed, and a decision is made as to whether theres sufficient to make a model, or more research is needed. Assuming there wont be any additional research needed, then our engineers will take a look at everything and give an estimate on how long the project would take to design in CAD. And from that, we can come come back to you with a Quote.

After negotiating the price, we ask for 50% of the quote upfront, before we begin work. Once work begins, we will update you along the way with screenshots, for you to critique, so that we can make sure we meet your expectations. Once you approve of the final CAD Model, we will sent it to be prototyped. Once the prototype is complete, and cleaned up. We will send you photos for approval, and only after you approve, will it go into production. At this point, once we send the kit to production, we ask for the final payment. Once the first kit is produced, it will be sent to you as a thank you for your business. You may purchase additional copies of your kit for the price of materials, and will receive a 10% royalty on all sales of your commission.

We're trying to expand our market to types of model building, bur right now we're very railroad heavy.

We try and make the entire process transparent, and will are willing to work with most budgets to get you the model you want. Please let me know if you have any questions.
