With predictions of a small snow storm here in the north east, it looks like its going to be a great weekend to accomplish stuff in the work shop. Yup, it's that time again!

My goals for this weekend are simple and hopefully can be achieved. I need to get a few items on the online auction site so I can have some spending money for the big show next weekend in Springfield MA. While doing this, I hope to clean and organize as much of my shop as possible. I have purchased small plastic boxes in which to store track, scenery supplies, etc. I now need to pack some up and organize as my move back home is slated for March. With the work shop cleaned up, I hope to work on my second detail article for Railroad Model Craftsman. I plan on detailing and painting two B&M GP38-2's, one in the original blue and #200 in the Bicentennial scheme. I finally have all the info I need for this article so I would like to get this done before I leave New Jersey.

Finally, I hope to get more done on the layout. I have been updating my progress on the thread I started in the N scale forum. I started laying down more of the road last night. I can work on this while I watch New England play Baltimore. That should be a good game.

So how about you? What kind of progress are you planning on doing on your layout? Perhaps some locomotives or rolling stock is slated for some detail work? Haven't seen a lot of snow scenes on the prototype rails yet this year, perhaps you look to change that? Shows, displays? Let us know what your working on. Feel free to post a picture on your post as a "before" so you can post an "after" to Monday's post. We'll all get together and post our individual results on Monday the 23rd.

    High Greens!

Yes, the New England - Baltimore game is on my list, too. That night, we will be bringing our daughter to the airport so she can fly to Florence, Italy, for her spring term. It will be an adventure for all of us. We've got the Skype system all set up, too.

I'm hoping to get started on actually laying the Proto 87 girder rail in Mooseport. The rail sections themselves are pretty short, and they are glued to a flat base, no ties, so I have to be pretty careful about getting the position right. I've never hand-laid any kind of track, so this will be a new experience. Hopefully, the product will be as good as it looks in the pictures.

I have a Bachmann Spectrum 0-6-0T tank engine that I'll use in Mooseport when I'm running steam. It's small, and with no tender it would be a challenge to install sound. (Yeah, some guys have done it.) But, this engine will only run in the few square feet of the layout that is Mooseport, so I've got a SoundBug that I plan to mount inside a structure to give the engine a voice while still being able to use a relatively large speaker, and without having to do a very tricky installation. I may play with that a bit over the weekend, too.

    Springfield next week!

Jim I did the same with my shop over the Cristmas Holiday. It's helped alot.
I'll be trying to figure out how I'm going to build my N scale Box Cab Challenge entry.
I've got a few ideas, but now need to put things to papper before I make anysaw cuts.
For around thirty years I've been wanting to try my hand at a small freelanced "woods built" locomotive with four spoked wheels, inside frame and chain drive. The current issue of NArrow Gauge Downunder has an article on how to build a large scale chain driven 4-2-0 converted from a steam lorry.
This got me thinking again about finally building that four wheeler. Using some ideas from NGD I believe I can pull off everything but the chain drive. I'm going to used siderods in place of chain.

I've set up my portable work area in our heated sunroom hopefully will get some snow over the weekend.

having finally cleared out the last of the Christmas Present production supplies, I think I'll be tackling the pile of bad order cars in the shop.

Probably nothing this weekend. I have to move furniture and pack stuff up for the impending re-carpeting of our unit next weekend. Shame too, as with the snow predicted, it'd be the perfect time to work on stuff.

I'm hoping to get some hillside / road grading built leading up to the highway bridge I built last weekend. Then, its the NY / SF game for my attention

Our eldest daughter spent an entire school year in Florence a few years ago. Wonderful experience! If you get the opportunity to visit, make sure you go to Il Trattoria Quatro Leoni for dinner, and have the fiochetti as part of the dinner. It is on the south side of the Arno, and well worth it!

Unfortunately, I have Highschool Finals next week, so this weekend should be for studying. I plan on ballasting my first module of an N-Scale layout I'm building for my work space and working on ground cover on my small 24"x16" On30 layout. We'll have to see how it goes, though. :fingers-crossed:

Dont have ANY modeling plans to speak of. We have been without power and phones since yesterday at 2am. We had a snow storm hit and knocked power out to over 20k residents. Puget Sound Energy says it may be into next week before we get power back in my area. If it wasn't for the fact that I am at work, where I do have power, I would not even be able to keep up on trainboard.:tb-sad:
