With each passing in early July, it seems that time goes by much faster than it did in previous years. Yes it is Friday once again! That day that becomes the transition of working for the man then working on our miniature pikes.

While this past week I did spend some time on the N scale layout, I mainly spent my time making a shopping list for this weekends train extravaganza, Springfield MA. I'm really excited to be going again and seeing all the new stuff. By the way, on Saturday, Athearn is unveiling something new at their both around noon. Might want to check it out if you attend! Hmm, how about a nice Berk in N? My weekend will be spent up at Springfield walking, gawking, talking an' buyin! Don't tell my sweetie Angela. Actually, the bay was good to me, so the sale of unused trains will supply funds for scenery and books and more for the B&M layout. If your still on the edge on deciding to go or not, here is some temptation.....

As you can see, there is everything from the smallest to the largest, prototype and Historical Societies and more. If any fellow Trainboard members want to meet up with me, I'll be hanging out at the Carstens Booth (Railroad Model Craftsman & Railfan & Railroad) around noon on both days.

So what about you? What are your plans for the weekend? Any shows for you? Warmer weather might allow some of you to get some railfaning in. Layout work? Detail projects? Let us know what is on your ready board in the work shop this weekend. We'll all get back together on Monday the 30th, and see how we all did. Till then,

    High Greens!

Carstens booth it is. I will be roaming all day Saturday, so anyone who wants to meet up can look for a slightly overweight, gray-haired guy.

Hmmmm....that's not going to distinguish me from this crowd much, is it? Anyone, PM me and let's swap cell phone numbers, then.

Have fun at the train show guys! I'll be working on my scratch-built articulated covered hopper. Got the roofwalks and loading hatches on today; lots of detail work to be done this weekend.

I got my 3-gallon air compressor and air brush set this week. I don't think I will have time to try them out. Thinking I might need a regulator for the air compressor, been reading different things in different places regarding the necessity of one.

I would like to cut out road bed and get it glued down this weekend and perhaps glue foam down for scenic shapes and roadway leading to the overpass crossing over the yard.

I live in Yorktown Heights, NY. (Northern Westchester). The town has a museum with an HO train layout depicting the Putnam division of the NYC as it was before passenger service ended. Tomorrow I am going to work on it to try to get it running again and repair any defects to the track. It needs a lot of work and scenery has to be completed as well. I hope to work with the Northern Westchester Model RR club, as well as some members of my club The Olde Newburgh Model RR club. Sunday I will be traveling up to Springfield for the show.

    Nothing super exciting this weekend:

    1. Re-install decoder in an older RTR Athearn Loco (somehow fired it last night puting the shell on.....now everything is taped up and need a new decoder)
    2. Ship my two BLI SD9 locos to BLI to have the LED's replaced
    3. Install handrails on locos currently lacking them (2 B23-7's, C30-7, GP38-2)
    4. If time permits, start working on minor shell modification of a Proto GP20 shell to fit on a newer GP20 with sound chassis. If it works I have three in total. If it does not work....not sure what I am going to do as I sold off the non DCC chassis' on Ebay.
    5. Tidy up track feeders and DCC bus wires

I just finished ballasting my first module of my layout Wednesday night, so I will hopefully be starting on scenery this weekend. Unfortunately, even after cleaning the track last night, I have some serious dead zones. Looks like I'm going back to problem solving...

By the way, does anyone have some pictures of a fueling company in the '50s? I designed the siding to support a hopper or two and a couple tank cars, but it's a small area.

I'm still working on drawings for my free lanced four wheel logging locomotive. I never thought making a simple set of drawings would take so long, but I'm having fun. I can't wait to start construction.

When my SD45's show up I plan to install the decoders and program the 9 new installs and speed match.

I am contemplating tearing out my current hardshell or modifying it and I may just start re-aligning the yard. The plan is to space the tracks closer together and focusing on the yard and its operations rather than a yard plus a bunch of industries around it. We'll see.

Going to try to get mainline finished. Hardest part is already done (yard area), rest is just single track main with a few sidings.

    Benchword, benchwork & more benchwork.

Nearest train show will be in Springdale, AR on February 25, so until then I'm saving my shekels.

I DID catch the announcement from Athearn on thr forthcoming Genesis GP38-2. The preproduction models don't look bad.
