The first modeling weekend of March is here and we are getting our first glimpses of spring. I sure could live without the Tornado warnings in my adopted state of Illinois however.

This will be my first Saturday at my apartment in a while, I plan on continuing the process of organizing, cleaning and packing the work shop. I also plan to work on one corner of my layout as I want to use it for pictures soon. Besides, getting one area completely finished encourages us to keep going. So I'll finish using the pink foam to shape, then plaster cloth the area and cast some rocks. Sunday I'll be set up at a Railroad show in central Jersey. Just a one day show and just full scale railroad. I will try to keep my money in my wallet, but lessor battles have been lost.

So how about you? What plans do you have for the weekend? A little time with the layout? Maybe there are shows in your area? How many have some locomotive or car detailing and painting this weekend? Railfaning? Whatever you plan to do, post it here and tell us about it. We'll all get back together on Monday the 5th and post our results.

    High Greens!

This will be a ski weekend, one of very few this season, and perhaps the last of the winter as well. So, I'll be limited to reading MR and MRC at the condo in the evenings.

Last night, though, I did one emergency repair. My Lenz LH-100 throttle went flaky on me. From wiggling the cable, I could tell it was a bad connection somewhere. For some reason, they put this thing together with very small 6-point torx screws, so I had to go find a driver for those. The smallest I could find was still too large, but with a lot of effort I got them out. I discovered that they had put a knot in the cable as a strain-relief system to keep the end of the wire inside. The break was in the knot, so I just clipped the wire and re-soldered it. Fixed. And I put the throttle back together with sensible Phillips screws.

Just going to some hobby shops today as I go get my other pair of glasses. Yes I have gotten ol and needed bifocals but hey I can see all that N scale detail now ! As for storms? My area might have some later. Weird in Kankakee and surrounding area we are looking at major thunderstorms but you go to Chicago and they will get some snow and Wisconsin is looking at snowfall of an inch per hour and under a winter storm warning! Who says living in the mid west is dull?

Well I wont get any modeling done this weekend but I will be attending a show that I have been wanting to attend for years. I am going to the loggers modeling congress @ Camp 18 in Elsie, Or this weekend. I have been unable to attend in years past due to me working weekends. It is a one day show. I will return home on Saturday night and will be doing wedding things with the fiancee on Sunday.

Neat. I liked wandering through the equipment out there and finding NP wooden boxcars out in the weeds. And the food is absolutely to die for.

Tomorrow is the Club's monthly meeting. We're voting on Officers. (I'm up for Treasurer only semi-willingly) and then BBQing tri-tip afterwords (ahh California)
I'm pretty sure I'll just be running trains, I may bring a few kits to work on, but odds are slim that I'll work on the Winery this week.

Although, my wife is taking the little one with her on her Saturday afternoon mommy time, so I might.

Rainy weather here this weekend, so I'm spending it in the garage working on scenery.

I will be continuing painting my future switching layout bedroom. I only had time to cut in the priming trim last weekend. Tomorrow the walls will get primed probably twice and then either a coat of white or light blue.

I spent most of Friday and part of today putting the domes on 48 Intermountain tank car kits I won on eBay. Unfortunately, these kits had their instructions removed somewhere along the line. Fortunately, I found someone who can send me a copy.

The headaches will start when the instructions come. Jeez, there are a lot of microscopic parts to put on LOL.

Kiz, I remember putting the proto 2000 Ho scale tank cars together many years ago. Very intricate kit,but well made. I can't imagine putting an N scale kit like this together. Need more than just an Optivisor for me....... (HMM maybe a few stiff drinks! LOL ) .....Mike
