Another Friday is here, and even though it is a Friday the 13th, I'm sure that wont stop most of us to get some modeling done. Nothing for me this weekend. I have been on the road since Tuesday going home to Illinois and now in Toledo to work a trade show. Things get back to normal Monday afternoon. So how about you? Benchwork? Scenery? Kit bashing? Leave your comments and plans below. We'll get back on Monday the 16th and see how we all did. High Greens!
Said it before, but this weekend it WILL happen. Gettysburg #105 and #107 will be finished. Just have to do the numberboards and a clear coat.
Well, I'm back home after 2 weeks in Florence, Italy. It was a great vacation, even with the less-than-ideal weather. We got to take a side-trip in one of these: We rode the train, 2 very comfortable hours each way, to Venice and back. We bought our tickets at the last minute, so we were forced to upgrade ourselves to first class, which I didn't mind at all. We also go to ride on a gon: Now that I'm home, I'll be putting more time into Mooseport. I'm hoping to start work on the benchwork (actually just a narrow shelf) that will hold the car float itself. It's going to be a swing-down so I can get in there to work when the removable car float section is not in port.
I have a three day weekend, so I am planning to: 1) Finish painting the scenery base on the bottom level. 2) Plan out a final draft of track plan for the top level and, 3) see what else I can squeeze in an 18" with two Walthers Rolling Mills. 4) Construct a sieve from old metal window screen and a wood frame 5) Sieve dirt material for scenery. 6) Experiment with Tea Leaf/Dirt scenery over a matte medium for adhesive to scenery base. 7) I really need to finish my switch points on the bottom level, but I am so sick and tired of handlaying switches. I'm not doing that anymore after the last few are done. As of this writing I can already check off #2 and #3.
Nothing train related this weekend with the exception of traveling down to Long Island tomorrow to visit with friends and former co-workers and catching up with goings on at the NYCTA. Sunday brings a trip up to the Catskills for a couple of days to relax.
Hope to get back in the layout room for the first time in 3 weeks. Hope to finish wiring on staging level. Complete the benchwork for the 1st level and if all goes good, start on the helix????
Hoping to get motivated to finish up 2 Geeps today. Have a show this weekend so I'll be running trains.
Well might go to the Griffth open house in Griffith Indiana if I dont get called to work. Today is a day off might go to an antique mall before getting the taxes done.Might go look at some Rock Island stuff to start getting my modeling out of the armchair and into reality.
