Friday has finally reached the station platform. Are you ready to board with your Weekend Modeling Plans? No modeling this weekend. This is the weekend of the big move back home to Illinois. The trains will get packed and the layout disassembled and ready for the trip back. It's been 1 year, 2 months in Jersey and it will be good to get back to Illinois with Angela and the kids and start the next phase in my life. So how about you? Barring any moving, what do you have planned? Track work? A scratch building project? Maybe some more DCC installations? Let us know what your up to with your response. We'll get together on Monday the 30th and post our progress. High Greens!
I'm just not sure yet. Just for something different to do, I'm thinking of going back and finishing the M.T. Arms Hotel, which has been in place for a year or so, but I never finished the interior. It will end up being the Shamrock Hotel, because I got one of those neat Miller Engineering signs by that name, and that will go on the roof. There are more structures in various stages of completion, too. A long time ago, I put the Centennial Mills background building on the other side of my layout, but that kit actually came with a full back wall I didn't use. I'll be finishing that one up, and it will become the Drosophila & Melanogaster Wholesale Fruit warehouse. (Biologists will get the joke.) The wife is back from Italy, though, so I know that some of my time will be spent washing windows and putting up screens. Ah well, it was productive while it lasted...
I will be track planning on the T-Trak yard modules I built last week. Tomorrow I will be back at the museum doing somemore wiring. The control drawer I made was installed yesterday and I have to wire in the power pack, Timer and on/off switch. I only get to spend maybe 2-3 hours a week there.
Wife gave birth to twin boys 12 days ago. I'm afraid my modeling time is going to come to a screeching halt now!
Not too much planned - have 6 hours of driving ahead of me on Saturday. Hope to finish up the details on my lake/river scene, and get some pics posted on Sunday.
Still building benchwork. I need to hit the hardware store for more supplies. I have most of the benchwork framed, just need to finish the last section right after I finish painting the patchwork on the wall where I had to move the light switches from to make room for benchwork.
Congrats. As the father of a soon to be 4 month old, I can confirm that you will have almost zero time. I get 4 hours at the train club every Saturday and that's pretty much it. And even that is negotiable. This weekend, I need to do some layout planning for the club. As suggested above, I don't get much time at home, so it will have to be done tomorrow morning. Which means that alas, the Winery will get put off again most likely. Tomorrow is also my Birthday and I am supposedly getting SOMETHING train related, we shall see.
