Another hot week across most of the country, no relief in sight. Will you be spending it inside checking off your modeling projects list?

I got a head start on my modeling by working on the street for my Potter Place N scale layout. As I have eluded to in the past, I have some major surgery and track re-alignment that must be done. With temps hovering into the high 90's in East Central Illinois, I may just start that project as working on my R/C planes in the storage unit will be too dang hot. I should do a little more work on my T-Trak as our club has some shows coming up, so that may come up as well.

So how about you? With the lawn a nice crispy brown, your "Honey-Do" list should be rather short. Will you seek relief with a nice cold iced tea and some trains? Hmm, make mine a Twisted Tea! Is there track work to be done because of heat buckles? Maybe a good old fashioned "Slide and Slice" (Railfan slides and Pizza) is in order. Whatever your plans are to "Beat the Heat". Let us know what they are! Post them here with pics if you want and let us know what you want to get done by Monday. We'll all come back on Monday the 23rd and compare notes. Until then...

    High Greens!

    And Stay Cool!

There it is! I noticed earlier this week that I can post on this sub-forum, but I can't start new threads, so we're kind of dependent on you, Jim, to get us started on Friday and Monday.

We're going to get some decent weather over the weekend, so I'm hoping to get in a bike ride or two. No other plans, so I can pedal my butt all over town and not worry about this old body falling asleep at the dinner table in front of guests. It's the last weekend of the Tour de France, but the contests are essentially over, so I won't spend much time watching.

My static grass machine is still "in transit." At least I've got a tracking number now. The USPS claims they've received "shipment notification," which means the package hasn't actually shipped yet. The last time this happened, I had the item before the USPS changed the status to "in transit," so hopefully I'll have it today or tomorrow to start doing some static grass. The shipping was free on this one, and I'm not going to fault a small business guy for not running to the Post Office every day to ship stuff. When it gets here, it gets here. In the meantime, I've got some details to finish up in Mooseport.

Meanwhile will be measuring out options for window access.

I've been working on a new website to replace the blog I had going. New website link in my signature.

I got my Shinohara curved switch for the A/D and Yard 1 tracks. I will have to modify it slightly to make it fit and weather it before installation. Maybe if I am really lucky, I could start layout Code 83 and Code 70 rail for the Main track, A/D track and Yard 1 Track.
I also got cut levers and more mu stands. I wish the Details Associates mu stands came already assembled.... this may be a pain. I need to get some of these geeps done and out of the way.
I need to continue studying and figuring out about switching to Sergent Engineering couplers. Figure I could buy in bulk, assemble myself and sell the old KD's on TrainStore, evailbay and to some friends who are still Kadee users and maybe keep the losses minimal.

I'm finally ready to start the last leg of assembling 48 Intermountain N scale 40' tank car kits. I've had them since March of this year, but I had some trouble finding flush cutters to nip off the coupler screws that extended through the underframe and prevented the tank from being installed. I finally decided on a Xuron 2175 cutter. It's designed for cutting nickle silver rail, but I figured (correctly) that it could handle clipping off Micro-Trains 00-90 screws without being destroyed.

    Hmm... maybe Kiz'll get
    two done this weekend...

My club is showing our traveling modular HO layout at the Middletown NY train day show on Sunday. I have been working on building my T-Trak yard which I had hoped to take to the show and use in a T-Trak layout, unfortunately we won't have enough members to run the HO layout as well as the T-Trak, so the HO won out.
