Hard to believe but October is just about half over. Just an indication that time waits for no man and we should make the best of every moment. With that said, it's time to see what everyone will be trying to accomplish this weekend railroad wise.

I'm hoping to have a slightly less frustrating weekend than last weekend. With two of the five locomotives done I've started weathering the last three on nscalerones fleet. I hope to get a lot done there this weekend. Saturday I'm off to over the border to PA to pick up some Jeep parts, along the way I hope to do a little railfaning. Sunday depending on how much I get done on the locomotives, I want to work on the layout some as I will be doing a research trip next weekend.

So how about you? What plans do you have? Let us know what your working on, what your up to and where you might be going. Pictures help stir the creative juices so feel free to post. There have been some great progress pictures here the last few weeks, keep it up! We'll gather on Monday and see how we did on our goals.

I am going to work on preparing the Atlas Code 55 turnouts for the loops.

I have the slide switches. I need to build mounts, bend and install the Z wires, and wire the frogs. Then I need to check each turnout over with my NMRA gauge so that I can get them ready to install.

Nasty rainy day here today, but a good morning to start the weekend modeling! I took a photo I had taken recently of the semaphore signals at Washington & Old Dominion's Herndon Depot and printed it out in correct N-scale proportions for the cardstock model I built a few days ago. Just finished gluing it on and I think it looks better than the more generic semaphores I had on there at first. Next up for this model will be the small details (guy wires for the semaphore pole, maybe control rods if it plays nice, downspouts, a base with platform and whatever else helps) and weathering.

Here's the completed kit before I replaced the semaphores:

    And here it is after:

And that funky light get-up is my McGuyvered magnifying glass with LED light (magnetic light with a hook that hangs nicely so I can see what I'm doing). Here it is again:

It never fails to amaze me how small N-scale really is! Also hopefully I'll be able to make some progress on the lights for the boxcab.

Have a good weekend everybody, and stay safe!

More benchwork for my layout. I'm using old hollow-core doors, and attaching them to the wall using shelf brackets (the doors are only 19" wide"). Once that's done, I hope to glue down the foam overlay.

I took today off. I've got vacation time to use before the end of the year, and some projects to work on. I've just finished painting the parking meters, and I'm about to glue the back wall on Merchants Row. I'm fitting the Blair Line grade crossing pieces, too. I've still got to put that sink and counter back in after our plumbing adventure last month. The contractor hasn't gotten back to us, and quite frankly, I think I can live with it as long as the sink is back where it belongs and not sitting in the middle of the basement.

I also plan to attend the Fine Scale Model Railroader Expo in Peabody, MA on Saturday. I hope to spend some time visiting the Franklin and South Manchester, and take in some clinics.

It is a sunny day here in Denver so I may not get as much done on my layout as I had hoped. I do plan on putting the finishing touches on my GP-20. Mostly painting / installing the handrails, lights, snowplow, mu hoses, and couplers. Then testing the engine on the track.

Hopefully, by next week I will have a pic of the finished product.

I'll be heading out to the train show in Ravensdale tomorrow. I might start benchwork for a small layout if I get enough time.

Going to try to find time to work on a structure project-I'm bashing the old Con Cor courthouse into a mill per an Art Curran article from 1978 or 79. That's about as exciting as it's gonna get around here this weekend.

Just finished my Walthers 65' LPG tank car. Disappointed in how it turned out. The kit is so old, some of the small parts and the end ladders were very brittle which made it difficult to practice patience.

I am planning on laying more rail this weekend. This also included soldering feeder wires to the rail and soldering selected rails together. Probably about all I will get to.

Going to work on getting my yard tracks finalized. I have my track laid and tacked down from last weekend, but looking over it last night, I realized some of it may need realigned. Will try some switching by hand and see how things work out. Also just got an Athearn SD70 in a trade, so have to try that out, and get started on re-doing my Gettysburg GP-9 and GP-10 from the ground up.

Got stuck on the lawn maintenance last weekend and didn't get any modeling done. My club has a show coming up on Oct 23rd in Kingston NY and I have to knuckle down and get my T-Trak modules done.
