Well, here it is, the final week of October. From here on out, the time gets busy for a lot of us with Holidays stuck in each month for a while. For me, I only have another four months here in Jersey until I get to go home to East Central Illinois. That means every weekend has got count!

Fellow TB member, billmtx, and I are planning to have an informal meet and run trains on the B&M layout and maybe partake in the time honored tradition of pizza and slides. I'll be fighting a two front (hobby) battle this weekend. I'll be spending Saturday finishing up nscalerones locomotives.

No recent pictures, this locomotive has been patched since this shot was taken. I just need to decal the last three units, paint and weather the trucks and fuel tanks, reassemble and dry brush all five and pack em up. I wanted these done sooner but work has kept me busy. Saturday I will change over to airplane mode and build up a plane that will be going to an event I'm covering for the magazine next weekend. Now that I'm armed with a lot of data from last weekend, I'm in hopes to really dig in to the layout before Thanksgiving. On a digital level, I really need to sit down and get the layout of the Freight building done by adding all the measurements to both the photographs I took and line art I drew. The building may be the subject of an article.

No plans for Halloween, except to watch The Shinning, my favorite scary movie.

So, how about you? Still time to get some good railfanning in, the cooler temps sure make it easy to work on the layout or building projects. Let us know what your plans are, pictures always appreciated, and we'll get together on Monday and see how we all did.

Yay! The forecast is for a cold, rainy Saturday with some wet snow mixed in! That's modeling weather!

The bicycles should be at my LHS awaiting pickup, so I'll be able to finish up the detailing of Merchants Row and get it in place. Beyond that on the layout is the scrapyard, which needs a long wood fence. Courtesy of the coffee counter at work, I've got the materials, so I'll probably take care of that little detail and see if I can finish up that whole corner.

Then, there's that remedial trackwork that didn't get done last week. It's been said before, but faulty track really spoils the enjoyment of running trains. I think that the few rail kinks I've got are the reason I haven't done anything but scenery for the last few months. I want to get back to worry-free railfanning again!

Sunday presents the opportunity to model and watch football at the same time, since my trainroom is the family room with the big TV. I've got some leftover interior detailing to do on some structures along Beaver Street.

Got a busy couple of days ahead so not sure how much I can get to, though I'm hoping to grind up a little more foam and try my hand at some fall foliage for the layout. I've already ground it down quite a bit and colored it with some blends of acrylic paints. Got some nice colors to start with but we'll see how they work out. Might also build a little diorama for my scratchbuilt Herndon Depot cardstock model. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Don't know how much I will get done modeling wise. The club has a show at a local mall this weekend, setting up tonight and running tomorrow and sunday. Wife and I are going on a mini vacation sunday night through tuesday. Hopefully I will get to solder some rail in the yard and spike them down.

Pouring Modge Podge over the WS Realistic Water on my waterfront scene. Making waves as it would seem. I hope this works! Jim

Snow is in the forecast here in southcentral PA, so might have to wait until Sunday to go to ye olde LHS for more supplies, plus by then I will have gotten birthday gift certificates for said shop if people were listening. Didn't get my replacement shells from Atlas yet, so can't work on my Gettysburg unit until they get here.

I think now the immediate family crisis is over (and thank you, TrainBoard friends, for your support) that I have a little boxcab project that is hurting for attention.

Signal Control Modules 001.jpg Snow this weekend. We could get 3"-6" here. Still scenicking T-Trak modules and have completed wiring the signal control modules I need for my T-Trak modules. The NJ International signals i'm using are brighter and can be seen in a brightly lit area better than the Atlas G type signals, so i'll be swapping out the Atlas signals for the NJ International ones.

Well, I hope to start laying down track on my layout. I hope to get somewhere with it, even if it is only 3 feet of track!

During the week I have been able to clean off and organize my work area. Now I actually have a place to work on my cars and engines. I do have 1 engine that I want to finish up this weekend.

I plan on installing the outer loop turnouts and starting to lay track on the A&LM.
