Well, some of us have just about made it through another work week. If we don't get dragged out to finish Christmas shopping and other Holiday last minute details, we can get some railroad stuff done.

This past week, I have been getting more done on the layout. I removed track elements that were not in my photos and notes, re laid roadbed and main line track, dropped some more feeders, soldered and tried my best to make bad track work on my one spur. Here is a picture of said spur:

I found that all those fake credit cards that used to come in the mail, work great for track that is making a transition from the main to what ever customer. My plan this weekend is to start building the roadbed and road for Potter Place, starting with Cilleyville road and Depot street. I'm also hoping to start basic scenery and painting and weathering of track. The last thing I would like to do is start both a progress thread as well as a website for my layout. Probably won't get that done, but I'll research it.

So how about you? What locomotives or cars are in your shops? New real estate going up? We are in train show season, any shows for you? Leave your responses below.

A quick note: The past few weeks we have had a lot of quality work come through this and the Monday threads. It is my theory that sharing our work with each other encourages each other to do more. Great job to everyone who has been progressing on their projects and sharing that progress with all of us:thumbs_up:

Yes, Weekend Modeling Plans and then Accomplishments on Monday is my conscience. And it's telling me to get the old mill structues set up in Mooseport, so I can mark the exact path of the old mill canal through town, and start carving it out. The buildings are painted and mortared. I think I need to find some decals to apply to the walls before I Dull-Coat them. It will be some time before the buildings are done, but the canal placement will define the track and let me get started on that. I'm using the "Electric Avenue" products from Proto87 for the street-running track through town. This is girder rail and the surrounding cobblestone road surface. I've got high hopes, even though it's only a 2-foot section of track. It's not the same as laying down flex-track, so one of the challenges will be height-matching the railheads for two different kinds of track. I'll be switching the car float on this line, so it's important that I have a nice level surface so cars don't get away while I'm pushing them.

Not much planned for the weekend. We have a few decorating things to take care of and I am guessing my wife will want to go shopping. If I can get into the basement I want to finish getting the few odds and ends off the layout. I want to sit down at the workbench and try to remember what I was working on. There are several Accurail boxcars that need weathering and one L&NE one that needs renumbering. I really need to take inventory of the modeling supplies.

Well, I'll be attending an ops session at a friend's house... and then aside from getting the Christmas decorations finished, I'll be trying to install servo motors on a set of turnouts on the back of my layout. The challenge is that these are Atlas Manual turnouts and I haven't had much luck with removing the manual switch lever and working with the remaining throwbar - the extension is short and fragile. I'm going to try to either (a) shore up the throwbar extension, or (b) drill a new hole through the middle of the throwbar between the rails.

Backup plan is to rip out the turnouts and replace them with Custom Lines. That'll set the budget back a good bit.

This will probably be the least train-ish weekend in recent time. I've got a project and an exam to finish by Monday evening, and the wife has an exam, too. Then there's a bazillion other things to do, as usual. I'm glad that I'm making progress on my next little diorama, though, and can't wait for a package coming from the Great White North with some scenery goodies and a few train cars (a generous gift from a modeler on another site). Very nice Christmas surprise, especially since things are so tight right now. :)

It was going to be replacing a kadee that seized up during trip pin removal, but I hijacked a set from a friend. So now we're back to picking up my C&O Enchantment Blue and painting and installing my Chessie Rock Plow. I don't have any other plans at this point.

This time I'm busy making coal car loads. And weathering some cars.
You will see the pictures when I'm finished.

After several weekends of transporting modules to shows, setting up the layouts and running them and with the switch project for my club completed I will not be doing anything this weekend that is train related. Gonna relax for a change.

my plan is to rip all the test fittings out and get down to the benchwork so i can install the backdrop. i need to remove to zigzag doors to storage areas in the basement and replace them with heavy curtains. then i can paint the backdrop and put the subroadbed in permenantly. if i still have some time, i'd like to get foam glued in place and get track roughed in so i can start putting it in place in the coming week.

a tall order, esp. the painting given i have 2 holiday parties this weekend. Monday's report should be epic :)

I will be running at the club layout at Alpenrose Dairy in SW Portland for their Dairyville Christmas celebration. My scheduled shift is Saturday from 2 until 6 PM although I will likely be there earlier.

If I get a chance Sunday I am going to get a work area cleaned up and progress underway on the benchwork for my first On30 module, this one a sawmill module.

I'm going to be cleaning up my shop in the basement, experimenting with making PC ties look like rough cut ties. Replacing some ties on my test diarama and getting materials ready to start on my Box Cab Challenge entry.

I installed a TCS decoder in my GP15-1 last night and got that programed. Got some decaling done on a few corn syrup tankers today, more decaling and weathering work on those and a few other cars tomorrow.
