Welcome back everyone to that gateway to the weekend! I hope you all had an enjoyable short week. It looks like the long weekend was very productive for most of you, let's see if we can do that again!

Saturday: With everything going on with the family, not much planned. I do however want to visit the old depot off the B&M Northern line in my home town to get some pictures. I have not been down there in years but all the track is still there and may be of use for a future layout.

Sunday: Is the start of the long trend of rain, both here in NH and in IL. Not much planned other then cleaning the house and going through Mom's things.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll gather together again on Monday the 12th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Happy Friday after a short week!

This weekend I have 2 things to do.

    1. Our new dog (still has puppy in her) chewed on the stair post over Memorial Day. I finally found the molding that was on it and have got it put back plus epoxied the base with wood epoxy. I have it 95% sanded down. This weekend I will finish sanding, prime it and paint it. We've also had a conversation w/ the dog about doing that sort of thing.
    2. Will also work in the train room and/or work shop. This is one of those weekends I have no clue what I want to do. My 7:00AM coffee in the morning and walking around the attic will bring it into focus. (Hopefully)

It was a short but productive week here.

I have an Athearn ACF 4600CF Covered Hopper ready for painting today along with an IMRC 5277CF Boxcar and an Athearn 34' long hopper car.

Saturday at the club will be another op session, looking forward to it. Have no idea which job I will be called for.

Sunday will be decaling the painted cars along with finishing a C424 decaling project, then building a covered hopper and another 57' Mech Reefer.

For a short week, it sure seemed long so glad the weekend is here. Over the last 3 weeks, my son has been having work days for building the items for his Eagle project. Tonight, we will start loading them up and on Saturday, they will all be put out. Hopefully that won't take the entire day. Once that is done, hoping to do a little more scenery type work on the layout and run some trains.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!!!

Continuing work building my train table and plan to move some furniture around in my train room just a bit. As a result, I can add 4" to the length of the main table. The table legs will have casters and I need to make pulling it away from the wall (for maintenance and troubleshooting) as easy as I can.

    Good morning everyone,

During the week I started on a pair of signals so over the weekend and want to finish those and install them on the layout and get them working. Weather forecast here is for hot weather so that may limit my time in the non A/C train room so we'll see how it goes. Everyone have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

It’s crunch time. I go on vacation in one week and I want this module finished by then so when I get back all I have to do is prep work for the big show next month in Evanston.

Saturday am is "chore time". Saturday pm is open. It is hot here which may contribute to model railroad work time. So far, the exterior components are being "fabbed". I think I have the first floor covered and will start the second floor parts soon (I hope). All stay safe and I hope you get all done you need to get done. :D

Not sure what challenges you deal with using DPM. I am a "card modeling nut" myself. I started this when I ran N scale and boy I found it very liberating and demanding sometimes. In N scale I built an Illinois coal mine, Union City TN depot and freight house (1/2 half length) and a grain elevator for Union City as well as the Humboldt TN freight house. I also made wood boxcars and twin bay hoppers from card stock. I almost forgot to mention the 120 foot truss bridge and three ninety foot and one thirty foot through girder bridges. I had unique structures at very low cost that looked sharp on the layout. Just food for thought. Do what inspires you. (y)

I prefer separate parts, I don't like painting them.

I was gonna try and finish painting one of my 2 x 4 bases, but rain has started in the area. So probably not gonna happen. Also need to cut the final 4 shorts legs for my adjustable feet I bought month's ago. They are only about 3 1/2 inches for my 2 x 4 base to fit on my adjustable height tables I bought months ago too. Have one base of the two done, need to finish the second one.

But what I can do since my 2 x 4 bases are in a climate controlled room, is try out the brand new Atlas Standard switches I bought Thursday from the local hobby shop. Bought remote ones back in the 1990's and think I used a few wired just to test, since then they have gotten really bad from packing, and unpacking, wires are missing. Typical newbie back then and didn't know any better. This time simple, till I learn more about wiring :) And may never have powered switches, one less thing to worry about!

We’re going out of town Saturday night, so I only have one morning this weekend to work on benchwork.

My plan to continue bracing the upper snd lower peninsula loop radial framework, then install more T braces for upper level peninsula.

I also have a Roundhouse 2 bay hopper with parts scavanged from a E&B Valley ballast hopper kit with warping issues. I need to finish attaching the hopper doors and paint the fool thing and finally be done with it.

I am not sure what is planned for around the house this weekend. If the weather cooperates there is some weeding to be done. The wife and I are talking about getting some type of plants to help choke out the weeds on the side garden. The painter finished painting the upstairs bathroom and installing a new light fixture and medicine cabinet today so there is some clean up to do.

I might continue changing couplers on some Athearn blue box passenger cars. When I change them I will also secure the clip with a screw and change the wheels to metal until I run out of wheels. I am looking at moving the location of the engine terminal on the layout. This will give me more room for the "city." I would like to run some trains also.

The last 10 days or so have been spent with family gatherings and outdoor play. My daughter flew in from the right coast so it was a very good time. Hadn't seen her for 18 months. Today was absorbed with clean-up, grocery shopping and repairing an old camp stove. At least part of both Saturday and Sunday will be dedicated to cleaning the house. All just normal life stuff.

As to the hobby, I hope to turn the smoke stack for UP 2295. I will be happy if only that gets done.

Next on the list is something I haven't done before and am unsure how to proceed. UP 2295 had it's main driver changed from spokes to a disc style at some point. I am working with an N Scale Kato USRA Mikado.

Other than the N Scale forum, what forums are appropriate to ask the question, "How would you convert the main driver from spokes to disc/Boxpok?"

So my second objective is to get an answer to that question.

Third on the list, and therefore least likely to happen, is the steam dome for 2295.

    Stay safe,

I would like to get out to the train barn and get some pictures of a couple finished projects. Maybe make a video too. And maybe just maybe have a few friends over for an op session Sunday morning, while its not so stinking hot! Breaking records here in Grand Junction CO, USA.
