Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. I hope your week has been good and stress free. Now it's time to gather together and talk about what we have planned for the weekend.

Saturday: I'll be ready to relax as today is the monthly upload of new announcements at work, so once the Live Feed is over, I'll be ready for the weekend. Saturday will be a fun change of pace as a good friend of mine is coming down in the morning with the three club corner modules for NTrak. Since I have all the tools here, we thought it would be best to set a side an entire day at my place. We plan to update the fascia from painted green hardboard to stained wood and re-lay all the track, wire in new drops and get it running for our first set up in May. I'm looking forward to it. Both of us plan to pay back our wives by treating them to dinner later that night. It should be a good time.

Sunday: A friend of mine inherited a nice older Harley Davidson and needs some help. I've taken two short hops on mine, but I still need to do some annual maintenance, so I agreed to take him into town and get a battery and some other items so we can both get some spring time maintenance done to them. It will be nice to have a riding partner, so I'm a bit motivated to help him out. Any other free time will be spent on yard work as the winter really tore up the yard. Other then that, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the weekend brings.

So what about you? What is on your list for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 29th to see how the last weekend of March treated us. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and...

    High Greens!

This morning I'm helping my neighbor/friend donate some excess furniture (he's consolidating two houses after the death of his long time partner) to a local homeless outreach ministry.

Then later I hope to do a thorough cleaning and lube on my 1947 Varney Docksider. And, perhaps later, dust off my airbrush and brush up on my long unused painting skills.

This weekend I have 2 goals, Item 3 is the great caveat.
    1. Clean up the layout room.
    2. Work on N&W hoppers. My brother has a small N&W layout. Several years ago I scored 6 Bowser peaked-end hopper cars (undec'd) that I will probably now never use. I went on the NW Historical Society site and got some great photos of HL class hoppers. I have the decals on hand as well, so I am going to letter them up based on the photo's and hand them off to my brother for his birthday. He gets some prototypical hoppers, I get a little more shelf space.
    3. Anything else that pops up in the workshop or layout room is always subject to detract from 1 and/or 2 above. That's the way it usually goes.

    Have a great weekend all!

We have Cub Scout Family Camp this weekend, if the weather holds. That's priority 1.

I also need to give my airbrush a thorough cleaning - it was used this week to add some paint to the 10 year old's savannah grass biome diorama, as was the static grass applicator.

This weekend, the temps will be around 80 degrees. So, I will be playing it by ear. It may be to warm to work up in my train room.

So, I will be looking over the many projects sitting on my work bench.

    Report on Monday

    Y'all have a great weekend,

This weekend depends on how my wife and I feel. We both got our second COVID shots, her on Wednesday, me yesterday. Thus far both of us have sore arms and feeling a more tired than normal.

If I have the energy, I plan on finishing weathering the coaling tower. Then it is decision time. Work on laying track or start another structure such as the engine house.

Gonna be a busy weekend for me. I need to her these modules finished. I’m on a deadline now.

Friday- I plan on starting the installation of 8 blue point switch machines. I should have them all hooked up by Saturday night. I need to hit my LHS, looking at what I have already built structure wise I am thinking of adding a couple more grain elevators. I know two of my shops have them in stock

Saturday- finish the switch motor install. I need to start the ground cover as well. Each module I will have to do separately yet at the same time due to the features each one will have.

    Sunday- more of the same

Monday- build more structures hopefully grain elevators.

Looks like OK weather here this weekend so I will need to get out and do some yard work but will also set aside time for the train room.

Activity in the train room will be at the work bench - I have several project that need decals so that is what I will focus on and see if I can finish some of those.

Hope you all enjoy the weekend whatever you end up doing.

Today, I hope to finish an Athearn 5347CF Boxcar Kit and get the first coat of paint on it, along with the first coat on one of the IMRC Canadian Grain Hopper kits I built. After that it is bowling tonight.

On Saturday, it is club day and then masking the above cars and getting the second color applied.

Sunday is starting to decal the cars along with more work on the Arrowhead Models H39 Coal Hopper kit.

Well, all the upgrades are done. Some tweaking will be done. I am pretty sure a structure is the next project. We will see. Have safe and fun weekend all. :)

Gathering up a bunch of my train table carpentry drawings from over a year ago to refresh my memory as to what I'd planned and to develop a lumber shopping list. My life took a sudden detour back then and I hope to soon have some time to renew the start on my N Scale layout. :)

Modeling wise, Plan on doing some wire management, finishing up some Herzog ballast hoppers, finish decaling a garbage truck, and hopefully (weather allowing) get a first coat of paint on some 3d printed army trucks I have.

Non modeling wise, the wife is in paint the interior mode so will have to be on standby to move furniture and remove wall plates for plugs and lights as needed. Also means I get kitchen duty for the next few days as well (I don't mind that part but I'll never let her know :D ). A couple of weeks back, I did maintenance on all the bird feeders and houses including relocating a few. Since it has rained some this week and more predicted for the weekend, it will be a good time to get out and reposition the two bird baths. The wet ground should make it a little easier to dig out some new level spots for them. Guess we shall see how much of that gets done. Let's hope that shiny object syndrome doesn't pull me too far off course.
You all have a great weekend!

Changed all my doctors recently. The past two weeks have been lots of over due routine medical tests. Most came out clear except the PCP thought I had possible cardiac issue, so was on light duty all week.

So after a stress test two rounds of nuclear imaging, echo, CT scan and follow up with cardiologist today, ticker is good for at least a few more years. No physical restrictions. So we are headed up north again to east end Susquehanna & New York/Barclay RR territory.

Not much modeling planned except working on the Intermountain refer kits and collecting some coal and dirt for scenery.

If my knee cooperates I'd like walk more old RoW and photograph a S&NY bridge and possibly look for some more old mining evidence in the Schrader Creek & Long Valley area.

I also plan on getting some photos of Big Bottom Run and Lick Creek in my travels.

I bought six cars this week, so when I get back home I'll be installing couplers and painting wheelsets. Probably won't have time to do much more than that.

I got my second dose of Covid vaccine last Saturday, so have felt a little bit fatigued this week. Plans this weekend involve some work around the house (always) and another try at finishing the depot. I also went to the Home Despot today and picked up 2 sheets of 1/2" birch plywood, a sheet of 1" styrofoam and a Kreg pocket hole jig, so the great adventure can begin as soon as I get my $35 flea market bandsaw up and running. What will I get done? Who knows, but we'll give it a whirl.

I'll be beginning my very first layout this today. Basically the "benchwork" and top, which is essentially a small frame to hold my foam top. I'll be building the HO Railroad That Grows in N scale, so after what I'm sure will be quick work of putting the foundation of the layout together I may make the first attempt at laying track.

And I fondly recall my Harley-riding days, now a thing of the past. My wife is wearing my Deuce on her finger. <sigh>

Im planning to get the arrival and departure tracks installed for Johnson yard, and I need to have a look at the wiring for the east end arrival / departure switch as the snap switch motor isnt snapping. Beyond that, we'll have to see I might lay more track in the interchange yard, and wonder of wonders, I MIGHT run some trains, we'll see.

Im getting my second covid shot on thursday, and the response from my boss was "take thursday and friday off" then I normally have Sat, Sun, Mon off, so next weekend is a 5 day, I get paid on tuesday, so I MIGHT have some money to buy some train stuff and keep building... we'll see :D

I got my 2nd covid shot on Tuesday, back's been hurting all week, mowed my mom's yard yesterday that probably wasn't a good idea but.... It hurts to sit, hurts to stand, wah wah. If I can get over the restlessness I'll continue with flatcar decks. I really didn't think I was gonna' feel this bad, oh well, let the healing begin. Be Safe all.

IMG_0921.JPG Hey, this is the first time I have been able to post in this thread, yeah baby! Still working on the the NEW benchwork or two 2' x 4' bases for my C&L Layout. Hope to be done by today. Although it appears on the second one, somebody ( that would be me ), measured something wrong as it's not exactly turning out like the first one. I have an alignment issue, or racking I think you call it? It has to be something simple. Gonna go back and take a look after my brain takes a break :)

And here they are. Man the second one was a pain. Here's hoping the two shelves are in the correct place :) If they are the main one will have a shelf and the L piece will kind of interlock, or be really close. If I measured right this time?

I'm hurt. I work around high voltage, heavy railroad equipment, moving trains etc, and I fall getting out of the damn bathtub and bust my ribs on the toilet.....
