Welcome back everyone to that gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a good week. Let's see what we have in store for the weekend.

Saturday: Jared is enjoying his first trip as a college grad before entering the work force so while he is gone, I'll be working on his trusty Toyota. Just basic maintenance such as sway bar links, battery, flashers and the like. We'll go to Angela's Dad's since he has a lift and when done, we'll enjoy a meal somewhere and I'll finally get to take my Mustang home. I'm pretty excited by that.

Sunday: I started working on the new display for work which is essentially an 8-foot Inglenook. I started Wednesday, cutting out all Baltic Birch ply to make a "kit". I would like to start the physical construction next and have it ready for track in the next few weeks. I'll also need to install the air conditioners in the home office and garage as we will be reaching close to 90. Yup, Illinois....Furnace on Tuesday, air conditioner on Thursday. Sorry Illinois, my home state has you beat with seasonable weather. I also picked up a pair of Athearn Genesis GP18's in BN. I got them last week and have yet to look at them. I'm think Sunday maybe a good day for that.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 24th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

Might get some work done on an Atlas-Kato C-424 that I have started on replacing the cast on grabs with wire grabs and adding all the lift rings to the roof of the model.

Need to paint a Boxcar and Covered Hopper, and will start decaling them if I have time.

It was my youngest son's birthday last week, will probably take him and his wife out to dinner and give him his gift.

    Not much else planned.

Plan this weekend is to work on some buildings. Will try to get a back and roofout on the Highland Paint Co. building. AlsoI have 2 Walthers Ashmore buildings. I’ll get those out, spread over the workbench. And figure out how I want to combine or kitbash into a single structure.

Need to also research grain bin/loader models to integrate into the front of Albemarle City.

Yesterday, I took a trip to Claymont, DE to visit a hobby shop. I was actually pleased with the place. It is owned by the former manager of Mitchell’s; a hobby shop I used to frequent until it closed about 15 years ago. The manager originally set up shop about a mile from Mitchell’s old location. The location was small, and parking was terrible. I went there a few times and was disappointed. Then one day it was gone. I thought it had closed down. I just found out a few months ago it did not close but had moved. The new shop is larger and better stocked. I got some weights, an incline starter set, and some styrene strips. I will be making more trips to Delaware for hobby supplies once again.

In my travels yesterday I also picked up an azalea for the backyard and some annuals for the front gardens.

My weekend will involve cleaning the fishpond filter and planting. I am not sure what else around the house lies on the horizon.

For modeling I want to fiddle with the incline set to eliminate the issues with the transition to the Water Tower Diorama. I have several PRR passenger cars needing to be converted to Kadee couplers. Most are older Walthers that have McHenry couplers and they keep uncoupling or are too low. I have a Bachmann Spectrum Diner I need to fix a loose coupler box. It is turning into a major fix as I found the screw hole for the truck is strip and that is partially why the lever for coupler box is loose. If the inclines work I hope to run some trains.

    Good morning all.

Weather here has been cool and windy. We are actually running our furnace right now. I will continue on a flasher circuit for the lift gate on the layout. I had one working with a relay but did not like the click-click sound going all the time so am now working on a solid state model. Will also continue little projects on the travel trailer in preparation for getting it out on the road this year.

Everyone have a great weekend whatever you end up doing.

I need to mow grass and work on finishing our back deck. However, I should be able to get some layout time in this weekend as well.

My goals for this weekend are:

    1. Build and install two more sections of first level benchwork.
    2. Complete staging lift-out next to the HVAC unit.
    3. Continue road bed installation from the staging lift out to the far end of staging benchwork.

Just now began laying out door and window mouldings. Good weather has hindered my progress again. Will have my grandson in tow tonight and Saturday and part of Sunday so that will take priority. Good progress to the projects planned! Have a great weekend! :D

I've got a CF7 in my sights for this weekend. I'm hoping to do some minor stretch and pull on the geometry of the cab to get it in its final state. That's my goal anyway, to get that done and printed for a final test fit. If I have time I'll work on the fuel tank where she'll be juuuust about ready.

    Cheers -Mike

Yeah, Ang thinks I'm joking that the next new car I will buy will be a 1964 Falcon. I'm kinda weird as I like fixing cars and not taking them to the shop. My son's little Toyota is a little different to work on but surprisingly easy to maintain.

The aggravating thing about working on my kid's used 2nd Gen Fit is that Honda chose to place the engine so that the spark plugs are on the firewall side, hidden below upper and lower cowls which have to be removed, along with the wiper mechanism to gain access. To compound the trouble, the Fit has a want to eject spark plugs, often ruining the head and with the difficulty in accessing them, checking them for tightness is a huge effort . Fortunately I've never had this happen. Honda's factory torque specification was a ridiculously light 13 LB/FT. It's since been boosted to 18, but plugs are still known to eject. Plugmakers NGK and Denso say 20 (to 22 Maximum) is okay, so I plan to torque to 20.

Oh, and the engine requires valve adjustment every 100K Miles, which I don't trust myself to do. I've read that it's not necessary if the valves are quiet and other say to adjust them regardless. What do you think Jim?

Nonetheless, our family loves little cars and it's been a good choice for five years and 45K Miles now.
