Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a good week and are lined up and ready for the weekend. Hard to believe that next week, for the folks in the States, it will be Thanksgiving and we will all be onto what I call the Holiday Madness season. Let's see what we plan on doing in the work shop this weekend.

Saturday: I was supposed to leave for New Hampshire Saturday morning but Ang is having some dental issues and after long hours and flights to and from California for work, I'm worn down and feel like I need to take some time to rest. Traveling about with low immunity and resistance is not a good thing. So I plan to take it easy a bit and continue my final plans for the replacement modules of the City Job. I'm pretty sure Christmas decorating will be added to the list as well.

Sunday: Since I'm planning on taking it easy, I need to finish my Proto Throttle project box for the receiver and fine tune the settings on my Athearn Genesis GP15-1. I'm about 90% happy with it but will be fine tuning some settings. Once that is finished, I would like to add Kadee couplers to both it and a new Genesis box car I picked up. If I have time, I have the couplers, metal wheel sets and parts to assemble an Accurail Great Northern box car. That is what I would like to do but we shall see.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 22nd to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and...

    High Greens!

Next week is Thanksgiving break, so I'll finally have some time off from my classes. I've ordered some detail parts to finish up my Genesis SD75M, so that will be my big project for next week. I also located some new drawings, so there may be a Shapeways product coming up soon.

Hope to finish up my under-the-layout shelf built of leftover scrap plywood from the train table build and also mount a small shelf to the layout to hold my MRC Prodigy DCC throttle. Upon completion of these projects, I can finally start thinking about ordering a small batch of Kato Unitrack to gain familiarity with it and get some track laid. (y)

We will have out of town guests over Thanksgiving so I will be cleaning up the train room for showing off the layout to them. The new section I have been working on in the middle of the room will need to be cleared off and moved so there will be room to get in.

I’ve got to do a little more Christmas shopping and the usual chores, but I’m going to find some time to make progress on my Metra stuff-I’ve to to reassemble 3x F40s and 3xMP36 that I weathered before/after work/over lunch throughout the week and weather the last MP36 as well. I’ve got 18 coaches left to install lights, decoders, and passengers in. The Katos are easy-the Concor and WoT require much more assembly to bring to standard. When that’s done, that’ll bring me to about ~50 coaches (all makes/models). Probably won’t finish the coaches because I need to run to the Kato store in Shinjuku for some more lights and decoders, but I’m going to put a dent into it tomorrow if I can.

Tomorrow AM I’ll be working on sprucing up a couple of buildings as part of the pre-Christmas scenery push. Then, we will be tailgating all afternoon at the NC State-Syracuse football game.

Sunday morning and early afternoon more building work. Then we will go to a family gathering later in the day.

Football and modeling. Favorite stuff. Have a great weekend all!!

TrainBoard Post 11-19-21 Cov Hoppers.jpg Wow. Holiday stuff happening for sure. Looks like many of us have a backlog, including me. The covered hoppers are done and I will move on to the next project(s). There are a number of them. Here is a pic of the latest effort. Still crude but a great improvement over the first one I did. All have a fun and safe weekend.

My weekend starts at noon today. Going to run a few errands and hope\fully find some stuff for a layout project before heading home. Wife has a ton of honey do things so I'll jump on those and get them knocked out by mid day Saturday and then I should have layout time Saturday afternoon and the better part of Sunday. We shall se what gets done!

Hoe you all have a fantastic weekend!

Today I will still be working on moving my workbench and tonight will be bowling, I hope I bowl as well as Tuesday where I had a 610 series.

My son is coming in from Colorado and we have our monthly train club meeting.

Hopefully I can get my son to help move the workbench so I can get back to modeling.

After last weekend I’m not planning on doing anything. Maybe I’ll get something done. I have shift changes looming here in the near future so my to do list just got longer

Finish the gondola kit I began last weekend. (And even get so far as to paint it!) My tugboat kit is almost completed It just needs a few added details such as fender tires. Still need to follow up on water details for the dockside area where that tugboat will reside. Thinking about some rip-rap as part of it. Just need that to be in reasonable scale.

The situation with my wife took a drastic turn on Tuesday evening. She started having more frequent episodes of the chills and fever with the fever reaching 102. She was also having more breathing attacks. After several tries finally convinced her to be taken to the ER. We found out that she has a large blood clot obstructing one of her airways in her right lung. On top of that she has a urinary tract infection. She is in the hospital on a heparin drip and antibiotics. They are trying to get her blood to the consistency that will stop forming other blood clots and will allow the body to dissolve the one she has. They are also keeping a close on things to prevent her from developing pneumonia. At times she seems better and at others not so much. She is very tired and still having coughing spells along with fever spikes. Right now, we do not know how long she will be in the hospital. They are talking about her going to a rehab center before she comes home. It could take up to 3 months for the clot to dissolve on its own.

I have been trying to keep busy around the house doing things like laundry, some cleaning, and other chores. This weekend I will continue the laundry and stuff. If the weather permits, I can start putting the outdoor furniture away for the winter.

I have been working on the layout to help with keeping busy and the mind off things. I have glued down some of roadbed and ran some trains. I plan to attach the track to the glued roadbed and glue the roadbed for the other track and attaching that track. If I get the track down run some trains.

For this weekend, I plan on placing the smaller of the two layouts back in storage after it's 6 month stint of being worked on and played with. Over the summer I added a lot of lighting and scenery effects to it (new rest area, a 'cop and culprit' chase scene, and a new Fix-it Shop with lighting and arc welding effect to take the place of a irreparably damaged working oil rig.

The larger of the two will be coming out of storage. There will be inevitable 'issues' to be worked on getting it up to snuff so I can run trains on it, and those will be the projects for the days before and after Thanksgiving.
