Another weekend is in the books, did you accomplish all that you set out to do?

While it was a busy Train weekend for me, the areas in which I worked on were not the ones I set out to originally do. Saturday, more items from the work shop were added to the popular web auction site, more cleaning, more packing. It has taken so long to organize the workshop because some of the items that were packed in non standard boxes were packed for my move from Rockford IL, to Champaign IL over five years ago. The goal here is to use the same plastic storage containers for all my model railroad items. I need to wrap this up as I have two N scale GP38-2's I need to detail and paint before I move back home in May. Saturday afternoon I went to work to help pick out product and pack the truck for Sunday's show.

Sunday, I left early in the morning and three of us set up a table for Carstens. We sold some books and a subscription and I avoided the temptation of bringing anything home with me. I found a nice Intermountain F7 single headlight that I need for a blue dip B&M but my budget is strapped at this point. Sunday after the show, I crashed, so no work on my layout. Next weekend I have no trade shows, no train shows and no driving, so I hope to do nothing but layout work.

How about you? Did you finish some projects? Maybe a few shows were attended. Anyone do some railfaning, while taking advantage of the mild temps in most areas? Leave your response below and feel free to ad a picture or two. We'll do it again this Friday the 9th.

    High Greens!

I've started repainting an HO Stewart C630 to the CN noodle scheme (no stripes). I added a bell, radio antenna, relocated the horn from the top of the cab to the right side of the long hood ahead of the central air intake, and added headlights to the nose. It's primed and the red is on the nose, front of the cab and the end of the long hood. What remains is the black, and decals. I made a small LED board for the nose light and weighing the best option for shoehorning that in the space I have.

As promised, I spent the weekend on the ski slopes. But, I returned with all my body parts intact and now I'm ready to pick up where I left off. Keep up the good work, everyone.

I managed to get some yard trackage down. I broke down and bought a Xuron Rail Cutter. Wow, what a help that was! Made so much progress I ran out of track so it's back to the hobby shop today.

Not much train activity this weekend, as the household chores due to new floor being put in took precedence. But, I got the track leading up to my completed bridge scene ballasted, and finished striping the road crossing the highway bridge, so a little progress was made.

After setting up my clubs HO and T-Trak layouts Friday evening at the Greenberg show in Middletown NY, I ran our T-Trak layout all day Saturday and Sunday. Everything went well until a little hand derailed my Bachmann 2-8-0 on a switch making a short circuit while I was walking around the show. The member who was running the layout at the time didn't catch it until another train hit it. The short circuit did not trip the command stations circuit breaker and the resultant current flow melted both trucks on the tender and the axle insulation. Naturally Bachmann is out of stock on the items I need for repairs. The picture was taken about an hour before the fatal incident.

I managed to find some time to finish the walls and roof on my N scale Kimberly Clark building. The main building is 24" x 44" in size. The mostly hidden continuous running track along the backdrop passes through the back left 1/3 of the building. I still need to paint the building, paint the rubberized membrane roofing, add details and weather the whole thing, then add pavement, interior loading docks, ground cover, etc. These are just cell phone grab shots. The roof top details are just place holders and are not attached. The interior unloading bays hold 7 and 5 box cars respectively and there is room to spot an additional 4 to 5 box cars along the outside loading doors on the right.

I went to the 8th annual Loggers modeling Congress in Elsie, Or for the first time this weekend. This event is held at the Camp 18 museum. It was well attended and the models were FANTASTIC! I entered several models in 3 categories, and took 3rd place in 2 categories. I cant wait until next years show!

The Kootenay river scene is nearing completion. Just more scenic details and proper line poles to add. This weekend I made up and installed about 150 trees, finished the track and improved the lighting for the scene by adding a couple more CFLs.

And here is a short video of a train through the scene...

I was unanimously elected as my Club's Treasurer. So that was nice. The ONLY reason I was willing to be nominated for the job is the outgoing treasurer was unanimously voted the president and he was so good at the job that all I have to do is take his spread sheets and enter numbers and sign a few checks and collect dues.

In addition to that I managed to get an old DH121 decoder installed into my Atlas first release Genset switcher. None of the lights work, but the motor works, so there you go.

So were you voted into office or were you "railroaded" in as we call it my club?

    YES!

So, I originally I was going to be railroaded into Secretary...which is more work, but doesn't involve dealing with money and so was a bit less intimidating, but last month our president informed us he wasn't running, because in September he was retiring, getting rid of his trains and spending the rest of his life on his boat in the Caribbean. So we had to find a suitable president. I nominated myself as a joke (seemed like the office with the least responsibility) but I didn't really want it. So we did some shenanigans and brought in the Grandmother of an underage member as the sec. and the Treasurer as Pres (he's far more easy going than me) and then I got treasurer.

I'm also Webmaster for the club as one of maybe 3 members over 18 that isn't afraid of their computer. It's me the HP Employee, Pres. a former Intel employee and a bunch of frackin luddites. :)
