Welcome back everyone! That cool chill you feel? Well that's the first day of winter, and if I were in my native state, I would be be happy about it but unfortunately winter in this part of the country is just cold and windy. Oh well, let's see how the weekend treated us.

Saturday: Went off without a hitch. I was able to get everything done by 2:00 and come home by 3:00. No trains today, just took it easy with Ang and watched some classic Christmas shows.

Sunday: I was motivated today. I finished the construction phase of Ang's Dad's present, now I just need to paint the body and detail it. I then cleaned up and set the Christmas Train display up. Last year I built a wooden Mid Century American looking suspended O scale track display. All of the track is mounted to plywood so they are only two curved end pieces, a long straight and two short straights with a MTH bridge. Because Ang is working from home, her work desk has occupied the space the tree and train normally occupy so the tree is in the living room and now so is the Christmas Train. Set up was quick and I had zero issues which is in stark contrast to previous years. Because of life the past few years, I'm missing Christmas boxcars 2018, 2019 and I missed out on 2020. Fortunately I do have a 2019 on the way. I doubt I'll find the other two before Christmas but at least it's running.

So how about you? What did you accomplish? Are you ready for the big day? Well we have some programming changes for the week with Christmas being on Friday. We'll come together to talk about the last weekend of 2020 on Thursday, Christmas Eve Day the 24th. Until then, stay Merry and Bright, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Interesting weekend. Didn’t get much done. I started painting a structure kit was all. Did get a bit humbled though. I was elected to the board of directors in my NMRA division. There were three of us running for two positions. I found I had 26 votes. The other two had 17 votes each. Other than that Christmas stuff got in the way.

This weekend I did a mix of Christmas 'schtuff' and modeling.
    • Put in a couple of more signals. These 2 protect the western outbound tracks of the staging yard.
    • Also put down ballast on a stretch of track that was ready for it.

Nothing finished. Just listening to (Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis) Christmas music, while sitting there and adding a detail part or two. Perhaps a bit too relaxed? :D

Got very little done for the weekend. Number one on my list was to remedy the broken headphones tragedy. Not the prettiest fix but done and all is quiet with the world again.

Saturday was a planned trip to the not even close to LHS but the wife had other plans so that went out the window. The closer sort of hobby place did not have the styrene I was looking for so that will slow things down a little. In the mean time, I finished adding the doors and door windows to the grain elevator head house and continued slowly assembling silos.

Hope you all have a great week!

Good morning all. Yes, first day of winter and shortest daylight of the year. 35 degrees here this morning. Went as far as I could with the land forms until I ran out of plaster cloth. Amazon delivered some more Sunday afternoon.

Also got something done on the lift bridge. One line fully installed and tested. This view looking down takes in the whole bridge which is about 32 inches. I built the bridge as wide as I did 6 months ago for better stability and because I was not sure what the track alignment was going to be. As you can see there are curves on the bridge and most of the joints are at angles. A buddy sent me some Atlas code 55 re-railer tracks which I am using just in case something does start to derail. As traffic moves primarily right to left on the upper track and left to right on the lower track the re-railers are placed in spots after a train passes a joint.

Didn't get much work done on my side. Picked up foam for mountains. Finally got my DC engines sent out for conversion, the GS-4 and FEF-3 will have sound added.

Got the GG-1, PRR E8s back (yay!) and the TGV duplex, and a second ACS-64. Drag tested the inclines with train 48/49, the General. 14 cars.

ACS-64s 621 and 648 haul the General around the as-yet unnamed mountain. Hope to get some more train time over next weekend. Finally going to tackle powering the turntable. [IMG]

Congratulations Kevin! (I hope the count was manual rather than dominion or there may be a recount .) Right, first day of winter! Sunny and a little warm here. :) Projects look great. Just a few minutes ago I check available parts for cabooses. Not much else done this weekend other than family visit. Going on day trip tomorrow. At some point, more work on cabooses. Everyone be safe and enjoy the Holiday festivities. :D

Awesome. Frank's a good listen as is Mathis. Thanks for the idea. I will have to stream some Sinatra Christmas on Spotify/Sonos.

I haven't messed around with my static grass applicator yet.

I did make a final trip to the LHS for 2020, before the three-week lockdown starts Christmas Eve. I bought some Woodland Scenics Scenic Details kits (gas station - for the pumps, vending machines, mailboxes) and a Fairmont speeder metal kit to keep me busy.

Of course, I will be playing with my trains.:)

Managed to add a second color to a Tangent 4740CF Covered Hopper Kit and started decaling it. Also while I had the black paint in the airbrush I painted up a GP35. Built a 50' Kadee Boxcar Kit and and Red Caboose 1944 AAR Boxcar Kit along with decaling a 40' IMRC Boxcar that I painted last week.

Also exchanged gifts on a drive-by with my son and his wife and did some grocery shopping.

Sadly I didnt get much done over the weekend -- got a bunch of roadbed down, but thats about it -- I did have a very illuminating discussion about what to do with an empty spot on my layout -- some of you may have seen that thread here or on other boards -- it seems to be solved, and I re-aligned a bunch of track on the main plan, now its a matter of fixing the roadbed that needed re-done -- I just filled a bunch of gaps in the foam sub-roadbed with expanding foam (aka great stuff) -- hoping to get some track laid and some wiring done --

I found out yesterday that I am to have a heart cath sometime after christmas (probably between christmas and New years -- not worried about it -- but I might have to be away from the models for a few days :(
