Welcome back everyone. It sounds like it was a rather rough weekend with folks here losing a beloved pet and other getting the Covid virus. My heart goes out to you. My stepdaughter and her husband have had a bad start to the year as well. On Friday, he lost his grandma three days short of her birthday. It has hit him hard as he was raised by his grandparents. Let's hope 2022 gets better for a lot of us.

Saturday: I slept in and got started by helping Ang. She wanted to get into Costco before the bad weather, so we rushed out and stocked up on some essential items, grabbed a bite to eat and as we headed home, the freezing ran started. Fortunately, our trip home was uneventful. Once home, I worked at trying to get the home office and workshop organized. We had an early dinner then rested before turning in for the day.

Sunday: Sleeping in again, I set my sights to getting cleaned up and making some homemade biscuits and gravy. That is always a good way to start a cold winters day. Once finished, I worked all day on the office/workshop and the common room now turned layout room. Now my office is set up completely as I like, with the 6-foot N scale shadowbox directly behind me and the HO layout on the same wall as my desk and next to the work bench. All of these layouts are work related so having them in the same room will be handy. The common room now houses the RR library and currently the N scale City Job. With three module kits built, room for two more and a book on the B&M in Manchester NH on the way, it may soon be the N scale B&M room. I finished the weekend with Angela's homemade beef stew and relaxed with her and the dogs. overall, a productive weekend.

So how about you? Did you get some of the things done that you had planned on? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday the 14th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

The little one is doing a bit better and the rest of the family is dealing with thier own case.

Got the ornaments off the tree and packed up, but the elves didn't appear overnight to remove the lights and dismantle the tree.

Experimented with reducing the height of my Kato N Scale bridge piers by removing a center section. Happy with the result, but want a less noticeable cut line. Work on that aspect to be continued I guess ......:)

Thanks to the rock slide I didn’t get anything done Saturday. I slept all day. However Sunday I did get a little done on the modules. Painted the new extension and flies down the cork road bed. I was hoping to have it completely done by Sunday night but alas. Hopefully it doesn’t set me back too much. I have a deadline….

Thursday: My wife texted me at lunch that she had fallen while walking the dogs and asked me to pick her up. I knew it probably wasn't good because we've walked home in driving rainstorms and whiteout blizzards. I found her back on her feet and walking, but by evening I could hardly get her into the car to go to the emergency orthopedic walk-in clinic. Nothing broken (possible hairline fractures) but with an Ace bandage, wrist brace, and crutches. She is recovering nicely, but since then, I have been called upon to do a lot more cooking, fetching, and otherwise helping out than I would normally do.

Friday: I heard that our Sebring Model Railroad Club treasurer, and friend, Kenny Fox passed away from Covid. He's been in ICU in Youngstown for the last three weeks or so but we had just recently heard that he was improving and they were trying to wean him off of the ventilator. Sadly, it seems there was a setback of the worst possible kind. Kenny and I had talked about getting vaccinated, especially after my wife's close call with Covid (and weeks in the ICU) but, while Kenny was not a conspiracy theorist by any means, he was unconvinced that the vaccine was necessary since he did not have any other health problems and wasn't "old." Kenny was one of, if not the only, remaining founders of our club and has been a member since, at least, the 1970s. He *was* the history of the club and knew everything. We lost a great man, an enormously important club member, and a good friend. From the day I walked in, Kenny made me feel like I was welcome, needed, and... home. He will be missed.

Friday and Saturday: I worked on coupler, weight, and balance issued on two flatcars that have been giving me trouble at the club. I drilled out, filled in, drilled, tapped, and otherwise completely rebuilt the truck mount on one end of one car and found a much better way of mounting a balanced load in the other.

Sunday: After church, I visited the club, briefly expressed my condolences to Kenny's granddaughter, who had stopped by with a pocket full of Kenny's keys and one of our other club officers was trying to figure out which of them might go to various locks, thermostats, etc. at the club. Then I drove to Salem, Ohio to visit the train show for an hour before it closed. I picked up a Bluebox Conrail engine and six more flatcars (for $2.50 each) for my ongoing container train project. The best news here was that our club had a table where we were selling off the remnants of a former member's collection (after he had given it to us when he left the hobby). For the last few months club members have been bidding on the stuff that they wanted, and what was left went to the train show. I was told that most everything had been sold and we made over $1000. That will likely help us to pay for the new HVAC system that we had installed this summer.

My sympathy to those here who have lost loved ones. I hope that those dealing with illness or injury recover well and quickly. Looks like folks are working hard and getting things done. (y) A little bit ago I finished mounting the last of a group of eighty wheels. Next is more components and parts. I had a problem locating the correct ampersand and wrote about this struggle on my blog, "The Omega Scale Railway". I now have a working plan in this regard. ;) I sincerely am hoping that things get better all around. Be well and safe. (y)

A lot of not good and just plain bad news from this past weekend. My sympathies to all.

Nothing much to report here. I did get a small amount of painting done on one of my projects and started placing fence on another. Overall, my main accomplishment for the weekend was doing a whole lot of nothing.

Here's hoping you all have a good week!

Thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts.

@Pastor John I hope your wife feels better and sympathies to you and your club's family.

We did not do much. My daughter took my wife out to get a pedicure and mani-pedi and lunch. I started getting the boxes down from the attic for the Christmas decorations.

I made it to the Greenberg Train Show. I found what I was went for which was some Atlas switches and track. I also got a Atlas Trainman Penn Central caboose and a Bowser PRR Livestock car. Armed with the switches and track I lengthened the storage tracks for the power plan and reworked the beginning of the third track.

    Another good weekend of progress.

I made significant progress getting the classification yard tracks laid down, probably 2/3rd done with the yard tracks.

I’m finished with tree planting against the backdrop for now. The benchwork narrows from 42” to an 18” depth working to the left, so I’m not as worried about clearance while doing scenery work later on.

Finally, some trains ran! I broke in a new GP30 and started to restage trains below, now with power. Once the classification yard is done, I’ll be able to clear out staging and get both yards wired up at once.

Sorry to hear of your clubs loss, as we are renters from the Strongsville Historical Society they require vaccinations for us to use their building.

Friday night bowling was good with 225-224-201 games for a 650 series and the team won all the points.

Saturday we canceled our mini meeting due to the increased infection risk so I stayed home and read with a little modeling on a Tangent 4750 CF covered hopper ready for painting and decaling a 86’ hi-cube boxcar.

Sunday I painted the Tangent covered hopper and added the detail parts to an Atlas Blue Island Reefer. Later in the evening we celebrated my Daughter-in-law’s birthday.

Happy Monday (night) all. Late to the party today. But anyway, I spent time in the layout room focused on ledge on the east side of Albemarle City. Tricky little place where I had not put down ground cover. Also put some vines on the stone wall in the same area. I still have some detailing to do in this area, but I moved it along this weekend. All in all a good weekend in the train room running a few trains and working on a confined area of ground cover. Also worked on the shed in the picture. Adding acetate to the windows, weathering the dang thing, put a Tichy light shade over the door, leveled it out.

Also, everyone stay safe. Covid has touched us all in some way. I pray all in our community here remain healthy as can be.

I had to travel for work, so I didn’t get much done except rearrange my storage area and finish two GHQ kits. [IMG]

Thanks-flat black spray paint as a primer, yellow spray paint on top of that, and then black, orange, silver, and red fine point sharpies to get the chrome, lights, and windows. With a little weathering powder and sealed with dull coat at the end.

Worked, as usual. Tired. Glued a couple of pieces on a kit. Went looking for a receipt for a caboose I'd bought in 2020. That turned into a major malfunction, so ended up sorting through all kinds of papers, to get them straightened away. Argh. There went the hours. I did receive my Unitrack order, so am hoping to now finalize my module kit wish list. Can't wait to get them and get started!

Unfortunately, in our overscheduled world, we'd just fill the extra time with more useless crap.

I had very simple plans for the weekend for work on the layout. Still didn't get anything done. Me was lazy :)
