A very doable goal. In 2004 or so, I "redid" the whole front of the 2nd version of the Albemarle to convert from DC to DCC. I wasn't happy w/ turnouts, some of the siding lengths, and other issues. So, I "re-worked" much trackwork as well as re-wired (simplified) the layout.

Here's a record shot of the demolition:

I decided to change plans, instead of working on the oil depot I'm going to finish another section of overhead lights valence with the Masonite purchased this evening. May try to hang it later. The rest of the sheet will be for background on modules 01 thru 07.

On one hand I accomplished all of my tasks.

    Soccer match Saturday morning: check.
    Bacon, eggs and toast: check.
    Modeling time: check.
    COVID-19 test Monday morning: check.

On the other hand, there were a few switch backs on the climb.

First, the screening test was not a big deal. I had the impression the nasal swab was extremely uncomfortable. I wouldn't do it for fun, but I won't be anxious about it either if I ever do it again.

The tender for UP2295 was not so straightforward. There are plenty of pictures on the web for reference and I have a few photographs in books as well. I got some drawings from another modeler. He also sent me some measurements from the tender of his HO brass version. Feeling prepared I have been cutting and chopping parts. The N-scale tools have been busy. I completed the sides and back of the new coal bunker, carefully cutting the curves to drop around the water tank. Thing just didn't look right. Turns out the brass model has a different tender. I needed to shorten the bottom of the coal bunker by a scale foot while keeping the collar the same length. Fortunately I had added internal bracing so that the piece is reasonably solid. Unfortunately, some of the bracing was real close to the affected parts. So I spent some quality time with my small files carefully removing extra material while preserving what I needed. The result was worth the time. The proportions are much better now.

While letting glue and/or putty dry on the tender I also had time to start working on the boiler. A little unexpected bonus.

    See you Friday.

A great weekend for sure. I went on vacation Wednesday and I’ve been doing some modeling everyday since.

I finished the squadron hangar, just need to add a few figures and items to make the scene. Got the planes decaled and painted the module up and added the UP5 and UR92 panels.

My vacation continues with daily modeling as I will be finishing up the WP depot I started last fall. [IMG]

What a time to need to do that sort of repair. It's been in the upper 90s to low 100s here since last week. The garden loves it but I don't love it in the afternoon in my office, the evaporative cooler struggles to keep up and it ends up in the 80s in there.

What sort of changes are you planning, any ideas yet?
