And you know what that means!!!
Well, at least for me it does...
The Christmas tree goes up, and the Lionel set goes around the tree..
Shoot, I had the trains running before the tree was even lit!
Maybe I can grab a pic of the train set up, and ya'll can post your shots of your own tree trains!

Remind me of Lionel Christmas trains from my youth.

How's the house hunt coming along?

This one with D&RGW F3's has sound and DCC!
The 567's throaty roar is sweeeeeet..... Air sounds (set & release), whistle, throttle notch changes, and more I need a DCC controller from Lionel to check out..

The house hunt continues feverishly... We are in contact with several realtors, and looking at all the new stuff that gets posted. One in Vaughn, MT strikes my eye...

Wow, thanks for the great memories. My family only had Marx 027 but was still fun. They would not let me play with it right away but I had my own "pre-BRIO" type push train. That's me on the left.

    Russell-

Those are exactly what I remember! I know my mother has some of me, with my trains. Squirreled away. But I'll probably never see them again.

    nice pictures guys.

Hemi- holidays are always better when you have kids to share them with. Good to know you're a rubber scaler too. [IMG]

Russell-when did you have those shots taken. You had a really good collection of lionel as a kid.

Me... i'm stuck in the HOJO's in Goodland Kansas. We got caught in a blizzard coming back to Denver from KC. Luckily they have wireless and my wifes laptop is giving me some good surfing time tonight. You can expect about a million posts from me tonight as there is nothing else to do but suck down the GlennLivet and surf train board.

I gotta get a tinplate or large scale for our tree. Maybe an S gauge American Flyer since that is how I cut my teeth on this hobby, 45 years ago.

    Dang, I'm old

Those were taken in 1955. I still have all those trains. I had them loaned out for a year or so to a local railroad museum for a display but picked them up last month when they changed out displays. I may have to set some up and run them for a while. :D

Yeppers Owen, I plan to Dine on the mexican cuisine before too long. I guess you've been here before. lol

Pretty bad blizzard here. We tried to drive out of the storm by heading south , but we got caught in a complete white out and realized we were in serious trouble if we didn't turn back for the night.

Nice to know you had the forethought to keep them russ.

kitbash- they have started reproducing AF trains. Also, AF collectibles are much cheaper than lionel. You could probably buy a vintage set fairly cheap.

Yep, you are wise to stop!!

Got stuck there under the same circumstances on the way back from Denver to Toronto. Pretty small hotel, Taco Johns is not bad, but not great either.

Good luck getting back home, have a safe trip.

Geeky, I am torn between N, Z, and O... I have thought about getting an HO scale engine to run at the club, but that went away...

I got started with my dad's Lionel set He got his Lionel set from my grandparents when he was 6 years old way back in 1959. We still get it out and run it every year.

When I turned ten I was already dabbling in HO scale with a 4x8, when my folks bought me my own Lionel set. I added on over the last 2 or 3 years with more track, 2 more locomotives and a 5 new cars.

I seriously considered having a permanent Lionel layout, but the disadvantages far surpassed the advantages. [IMG]
