Got a functional DCC++ Arduino setup that has worked in the past. Currently no throttle launched has any effect of any kind on a selected loco.

JMRI can successfully read decoders. Throttle can turn track power on and off. No function from throttle to loco that is selected. Speed, direction, nothing. Oddly enough, I *can* turn the lights on and off based on decoder/loco, so I know it is sending commands.

I replaced the Arduino, the motor shield, updated the Arduino sketch, JMRI, different computer, etc. No dice. Motor shield has the VIN and Brake jumpers cut.

I am confused to what I am missing. It acts like a configuration issue for JMRI. If it can read CV values and turn on and off track power, then the hardware is fine. So what magic check box am I missing?

Check to see if you have the engine in Consist mode. Your issues seems to match that.

I did have two of the test engines in consist mode on another layout with an NCE system. I will see about that.

But I had multiple locos for testing and none responded, even the one not in a consist.

    Worth checking out your tip.

And that was it! Removed the affected locos from a consist and now they behave as expected.

Using a Deek-Robot motor shield without problem. $11 on Amazon. A tad bit better than the $30 original I cannot even get anymore.

Laptop power supplies are very easy to get for the power.

Thank you for the quick resolution.
