Might have to look them up! Could use at least 1 for
putting my Tyco, LifeLike and AFX slot cars on display.
Along with the 5 truck/trailer I have as well. Where to
put it might be a problem though. Running out of wall
    space to display stuff!

You could always just use some flex track. Without the ballast shoulders, it reduces the height.

If height was a problem...I would be more tempted to use flex track that isnt so 'flexable' like ME. Flex track that can easily move from front to rear on a narrow shelf is just asking for disaster IMHO. I know atlas c80 flex can be used a a buggy whip..it is so flexable ...lol.

If movement is a concern, use double-sided tape to keep the track in place....

Well, a week later but here are some pics of the display cases loaded mostly.

In this shot, you can see where I used some Unitrack. It works but my fat fingers don't work well. I first tried the Santa Fe U50. We won't discuss it hitting the floor during the attempt. The J is there but not 100% on the rails.

And this is the full looks at this one.

I really like the Class J loco. That is my all time favorite locomotive!

Maybe put a tiny strip of something black on the edge of each shelf so they don't slide. I know they don't make it but black styrene would be ideal.

Come on George, don't tempt Murphy!!! I had these in my old house layout room and never had an issue. I'm sure it will happen now.

MK, you are on the right track there. I should indeed get some styrene and paint it black plus an edge for each.

Here is the one that is above that one.

And then these are the two on the other side of the closet. Still working of filling one of them up. The photos make the light glare look a lot worse than it really is too.

Are the shelves removeable? If so, find a friend who has a table saw (if you don't have one) and cut two shallow groves where the OUTSIDE edges of the groves measure 9mm. The flanges will then sit right in nicely. That's what I did when I built my own case.

    The shelves are fixed unfortunately.

Your display case is super cool. It does give me an idea on what to do when making those styrene inserts that you spawned the idea for :)(y)

I built that thing on the SUPER CHEAP with MINIMAL work!

One day years ago, I was walking in the lumber section of Home Depot and saw a stack of "drawer sides" on clearance for $2 each. What the heck is a "drawer side"? Well, they are the three side of a drawer (duh!) if you are a builder making a drawer. The good thing about these is they are only 1/2" thick and not the typical 3/4" for furniture. They are particle board but with three side veneered already. So no finishing needed! And you know finishing takes more time than building the damn thing! If it's during the colder months, no bueno as you can't do it outside and inside is out of the question with the fumes. Though now a days you can get water based polyurethane.

$2 will get you a 4 foot piece. I bought a whole bunch and went to work on my table saw.

I have never seen these before at Home Depot in all my years, even at regular price let along clearance pricing. To this day I have never seen them again. I search every time I'm at any Home Depot as I need to build another one. The fleet is growing and I have so many sitting in their jewel cases and they are lonely. :D

I'm sitting here looking at pics from the weekend and pondering my post. This layout has quickly become my favorite of all my layouts I have done. I guess comments in another post really offended me and I probably should not have let them. It all goes back to rule #1, it's my layout. My track plan is simple, the Unitrack works great, and the trains run well. Scenery is not a strong suite and my scenes don't hold a candle to most folks here, but you know what, I am happy with it and I enjoy sharing it with you all. I really appreciate all you folks who are not being judgmental and offer fun comments, questions, and suggestions. To you all, I say thank you. :)

So, I haven't done much on my tank loading platform since I last posted about it. Saturday, I did put some silver paint on some of the parts. Have stairs and ladders on order so really waiting on them before moving forward.

I got some trees out and ready to plant.
    20201120_152142.jpg

Then, it's not trains but it is in the train room, I put up my 50 state quarter collection and my Matchbox micro brewery cars displays.

    Now on to Sunday

If my layout is half of what yours look like or stage of completion, I'll be waking the neighbors and calling the press! :ROFLMAO:

I enjoy all your updates with pictures. It gives me inspiration and more importantly, HOPE for my layout!

BTW, regarding the state's quarter collection, did you find all those quarters over time yourself or did you buy them mint? I'm missing a handful and it's a pain asking people if they have states quarters in their pockets that I can take a look at. :D:D:D

    On Sunday,

I planted a few of the trees.
    20201122_131719.jpg 20201122_134049.jpg

After that, I spent a lot of time pulling out things that either need to be organized, need to go, or just hit the trash. I posted some of it in the classified page here. Mostly cheap and not really any profit. Slowly seeing the progress. :) All in all, it was a decent weekend. Looking forward to Turkey Day this week.

Thanks for the kind words sir. :)

That set was collected from change. What ones do you need? I'd be glad to check and see if what I may have laying around.(y)
